So the part that you seemed to be confused about... this was a flashback... it seemed like you may have misheard when they said she was away from the giant race for 500 years (not 5). Those were the years she spent with King, which is where she got the outfit. She mentioned she didn't remember much from that time (because King erased her memory). When she remembered something from that time during the flashback, they showed her eyes glow. Why? I'm not sure... maybe because the eye glow is the only reference we've had to memory loss so far? To me it seems like an overlooked detail they should have have left out because it doesn't really make sense since King's power doesn't work like Gowther's. Maybe someone else has a better explanation.

Key thing, her eyes did NOT glow here, Gowther's power has a purple glow. Talking about marriage just triggered the memory of King saying that exact same thing to her in the last flashback episode we saw. Neat thing I noticed now is that "Matrona" is the name Diane entered the s1 tournament as.
