I don't think it's as much the animation as it is the art style. Season 1's art style was quite unique... the new art style seems more generic, and I could see it getting seven deadly sins like at times when the story get's slower (hopefully doesn't). Basically though, a still frame from season 1 looks better than a still frame in season 2 me to me. I just appreciate the unique look it had. Some anime just have a unique look to them, like The Elusive Samurai that hit's differently. Tower of God Season 1 was one of them.
