For future reference! In Silver Age canon Red Kryptonite would cause female Kryptionans to rapidly gain weight. Also, when Lois had a hit out for her, Superman shot her with a growth ray, in her sleep, to make her: 1) So fat the thugs would not recognize her 2) Think she just gained weight and not know Superman was responsible. The comic ended as well as you would expect.
