Hi all! This was PHENOMENAL. I didn't realise just how well the filmmaking was done in this one. The acting, especially from Fay Wray, is superb! Such a great scream and one of the most expressive faces I've seen, which is probably in part to her being in silent films.

I haven't got around to editing the trivia together yet, but once that's done eventually, then I'll update you all.

Thank you so much for requesting this one!

The Lost World (1925) is an earlier film with dinosaurs based on a novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (he wrote more than Sherlock Holmes). Willis O'Brien did the stop-motion animation for it as well as for King Kong.

Oh yes! I completely forgot about The Lost World. Thank you! I do remember being told some time ago. I hadn't realised it was ACD that had written it though! I knew he'd written more than Holmes, but didn't realise it was this. Thanks for letting me know that! I'd found some parts out (in the trivia section) about some connections between this film and King Kong, but if I remember right, I found those out during the watching of King Kong, so have added an audio version of me explaining what I found. I hope you enjoyed my overwhelmed reaction to a lot of it

I joined your Patreon to watch this although there's a bunch of your past reactions I want to see in full also. Growing up this was THE monster movie, shown on TV frequently and was a favorite of mine. A few points...Kong was on tne Empire State Building...that was the equally famous Chrysler Building you see in the background. There were all kinds of rear projection and compositing techniques developed for this film in addition to the wonderful stop-motion animation by Willis O'Brien. And special kudos to Max Steiner for his epic score...before this most films of the early 30's simply used music for the opening and closing credits. With the complexity of sound FX, music and dialogue mixing in this film, it's hard to believe it was made only 5 years after the advent of sound films! Thanks for a great reaction and appreciation of this classic.

Hi David! Apologies it took me a while to get back to you, I hope you're well! Fantastic to hear you're interested in watching some of the previous reactions too. I've got more coming soon, one of which I watched tonight. Yeah, I'd heard about King Kong being a really big monster film and was so excited to get to watch it finally. It's been years since I'd said to myself about seeing it! Ah, great to know, thank you. I believe I do mention that in the trivia, thankfully, but that's yet to edited together. I appreciate you letting me know! Oh wow, I knew they'd used the compositing etc, but didn't realise some was made specifically for this. (Patreon sent the message before I could add this part) That animation was amazing, you can see it on my face haha. Willis did a stellar job! Yeah the score is quite wonderful, actually. Great to know, as I know they used music sparingly back then. Yeah, that was my thought too, it was more difficult to add things to film back then due to the process and time it would have taken. They were extremely talented and innovative for what they would do though. You're very welcome! I loved this so much, thank you so much for watching it. Hopefully you'll enjoy the trivia section once I get that done too. Take care David! Have a wonderful day
