Slowly drinking every drop (almost)

-----

EDIT : alright! It's maybe a week early, but it's christmas~ I'm making this one public now. There are 2 versions, each is a little different, and the process to do each was pretty different!

Wow! So this was a ton of work.

Not counting the sketch animation, finishing the high res took 12 additional hours of work.

Then, as a proof of concept on a faster method, i worked on a low res version, from the sketch, NOT the finished animation, and that took 6 hours to do. So literally half the time per frame. They're each a bit different too, i was going faster on the pixel version so i added some more animation to charlie, etc. it could have been 4 hours.

Anyway, in my hunt for new methods to animate, i tried a few things.

1) CSP high res. The first one you see, and the most laborious / time intensive. Looks nice when it's done, but damn is getting there a nightmare

2) Dacad-esque Sketch-With-Color-Under-It render. It came out so bad i'm not even going to post it, ha.

3) Blender 3d armature on 2d planes from a drawn image. It died before it got very far, but what i had was interesting, at least. With the right setup that might actually work, but for now it's not gonna happen.

4) Aseprite Pixel Art animation. I've got experience in that program, and after a bit of warm up, it was pretty efficient. Its drawing tools suck, but for finishing an animation based on a csp sketch anim it seems fine.

Additionally i want to look into these in the near future

5) Toon Boom. I'd have to buy it and learn it. I have a trial but haven't been able to check it out, really.

6) After Effects, like zonk does. I've dabbled in AE in the past, and am interested in trying it again. if you custom-make the drawing FOR the rig, you can get some good stuff out of it.

-----

Anyway, I've spent like 25 hours on this animation, so this is the friday update. It might also be the monday update, i'm exhausted. It's time to get bonus tale 3's script ready for sketching and get back on that!

But, i really like animations, and if it drives interest here i'll keep spending time on it.

Now that i've done this, i'm pretty sure the low res is the only reasonable way to finish the Jenny / Ian UB animation. It's 40 seconds long, there's no other way lol.💦

Here's a single frame mockup of it

(her paws are missing their orange don't worry about that)

TLDR : this animation was like 4 or 5 comic pages worth of work, and im exhausted lol. Enjoy.

Love this! I think the little twitch of the balls really add that little touch of detail that I absolutely adore! Even the pixelated one is soooo good!

Scarletmenace

Wow, This is a really steamy one once finished! Also love that it loops perfectly :D

InsomniacOvrLrd

Wouldn't be much of a loop if it didn't loop lol. Thank you, glad you like it~ I've been working on some backburner animation stuff you'll probably be into as well

Scarletmenace

Hell ya I would! Only you would take a short break for an animation by working on more animations lol
