Alright! This was actually a ton of work. I remember when i only had a simple script for All Tied Up, but i guess i spent a good chunk of time making a set model for it. Preproduction is always surprisingly tough!

So, the story is ready to be expanded from the "Events Per Page" Treatment, to the Full Script that I draw from. The script usually takes a day or two, and then thumbnailing can begin.

Hope you're excited! I am~

This is kind of promotional material, in a way? So i'll be posting it publicly a little sooner than usual.

I love seeing your preproduction stuff, I'm always super interested in the process everyone uses for comic creation. That being said, I'm curious about how you learned all this! Did you formally study or are you self taught?

InsomniacOvrLrd

hey, thank you! I’m entirely self taught, but I’ve picked up a lot through seeing behind-the-scenes stuff from animations and movies, reading about other media’s preproduction, game dev and stuff. most creative fields have the same work – in– passes approach so there’s a lot you can learn around! comics share a lot with screen writing, and there’s lots of information about the process behind that out there. I love seeing other peoples preproduction stuff too!

Beeray Echo

*reads the Foreman's description* finally a character i can completely relate too

Juno

That's so awesome I love that!! Are there any resources you remember you found particularly useful? I know what you mean with the screenwriting stuff, my roommate is very into movies and it's so fun to apply the theories used for filming in comics.

splatterfest233

Cassy's cute. I see you're taking inspiration from something other than Pokemon, huh?

wugfish

Love seeing this behind-the-scenes~ As always seems to happen with your works, I get more and more excited with each new thing you share about it!

Backtolurking

From what I remember for the last comic there was a possible "caught having sex" scene that never happened? But I look forward to this exhibitionist Alice... She might be one of my favourite characters from the way your describing her...

Jonathan Cardoso Mota

This setup work is actually really interesting, and you are correct this is perfect promotion material too.

As someone who works in the construction industry I can already imagine the Foreman's half-overheard conversations. "What do you *mean* we owe the city four THOUSAND dollars in parking tickets? Who told you idiots to park the cement trucks in the right-of-way anyhow!? Ugh. Fine! Hopefully that's the ugliest surprise of the day out of the way..."

Hologram

I'm always in awe at how professional your work method is.

InsomniacOvrLrd

I can't think of any, honestly. For comics specifically there's Scott Mccloud's "Understanding Comics" and "Making Comics" which are important books on the artform. but outside of just like, general formatting, i can't really point you towards a guide to screenwriting. If you want to get really in the weeds on comics, Will Eisner's "Comics and Sequential Art" is more informative than the scott mccloud book, but a much drier read. And there's the recent book by Blambot's Nate Piekos's "Essential Guide to Comic Book Lettering ". I picked it up on preorder and just got it recently, but i haven't had time to actually pour through it. Still all the prereaders gave it good reviews, and i'm a stickler for good lettering, so i'd recommend it, too!

InsomniacOvrLrd

There's a lot of inspirations out there, but i've been meaning to have a chunky big-paws cat in the lineup for a while.

InsomniacOvrLrd

Hey thank you! Preproduction stuff can be a little dry, but i'm glad people are getting hype about the comic thanks to this!

InsomniacOvrLrd

There was some concern that, since they weren't really in a private location, they'd need to keep a look out, but yeah that's an element in this comic. And rad, glad you're looking forward to it!

InsomniacOvrLrd

Thanks! I'm not sure if posting it publicly pushed anyone over here to support its production, but if nothing else it's good to get the word out there

InsomniacOvrLrd

That's very kind of you to say! I always try to put a professional look out there, especially when it comes to a project that people are literally supporting the production of. I'm confident in it, and i want to make sure everyone else is, too~
