That little eye signal Makoto gave Mio was a neat detail. They really wanted to give Tomoe a chance to show off. On the other hand, I wish they didn't truncate this arc. There was some Rembrandt backstory that would've fleshed out his character more.

The training part was actually really interesting to me. It wasn't just about a random power up for the side characters, but rather exploring the idea of isolationist vs globalisation (cosmopolitan nations) views. Despite serving the same master, the races didn't feel comfortable enough with each other to not safeguard secrets. That's such an interesting detail for a show where race is thematically relevant.
