(Congrats to the new couple!) Just to clarify, Yifan's mechanics and game-understanding are perfectly fine -- not extraordinary or anything, but perfectly fine for an average pro at his experience level (he's like 20, maybe a year in the pro-scene). For all his noise about teaching Yifan, Steamed Bun isn't really at Yifan's level yet since Steamed Bun has much less experience. The problem is that Yifan's Assassin wasn't remarkable, not enough to match the performance of his Tiny Herb mates, a Champion team. Ye Xiu noticed though that he has excellent team awareness, and felt he'd fare better in the Phantom Demon class, which is slower-paced, better suited to supporting a team than 1-on-1s.

In the LN, it wasn't really coincidence that brought Bao Zi and Yifan to meet Ye Xiu. They arrived separately, and had been explicitly invited. But drama's got to drama, I guess ... (I recall Bao Zi's entrance was iconic though -- he works as a security guard in the LN, and it's said that he walked into the cafe looking like an actual Brawler, got Ye Xiu scared for a bit lol, until he revealed the goof)

What Chen Yehui noticed on Ye Xiu's screen wasn't his weapon, but rather his character's name, for the first time. Most people don't know that Lord Grim == Ye Xiu, except for the few captains very familiar with him like Wenzhou and Jiexi that figured it out. So now, Chen Yehui's heading this attack, not just because of personal animosity, but because Ye Xiu essentially controls the record-setting these days, upsetting the usual monopoly of the big Guilds. You'll remember the Blue Brook guys complaining of the same thing. The name "Big-Eyed Wang" is an old nickname for Wang Jiexi (WJX), due to his appearance -- the LN says he's got one eye noticeably larger than the other. But since they practically used models for the LA, the name doesn't quite translate (not that I'm really complaining here). Only the "old seniors" like Ye Xiu still use this nickname though, none of WJX's teammates would actually use it -- but that's more because they've too much respect for him, not because WJX seems to care about the name really.

Also, not sure I mentioned this already but in the LN, Tang Rou isn't quite as standoffish as she appears here. She's still stubborn as hell, yeah, but it's more a quiet chill stubbornness, she was still friendly but with zero goof. She'd no trouble taking advice from Ye Xiu, while still gunning to defeat him someday. After all, they spend many hours playing next to each other silently, with occasional game banter. In the LN, she actually first shows up as an employee in the cafe just like Ye Xiu, who just happens to be best friends with the owner, Chen Guo. Ages: I think Ye Xiu's 25 here, started playing Glory when he was 15. Guo Guo is a few years older than him. Tang Rou is like 20, roughly same as Bao Zi and Sun Xiang. Most of the other "Gods" you've seen so far (WJX, YWZ, HST) are in their early 20s, a few years younger than YX.

In this area, I think the anime is more faithful. So if you ever get around to watching that, you'll see :D
