yes! if you want to hear more live vocals you definitely shouldn't check out mcountdown performances, mnet basically makes everyone lipsync haha jeonghan had long hair for a while, he cut he completely short from boom boom/don't wanna cry era! but he started growing his hair out again in 2021 for 'ready for love'! his hair right now is pretty long too

shaylareacts

oooh okay that's interesting! I thought I read somewhere that he wasn't interested in having long hair again so i'm assuming it won't get too long lmao

Star

i think that he meant more of the very very long hair, but so far the recent longest hair length is shoulder; that seems to be his limit for now hahaha

2023-01-02 00:33:50 to answer your question about the kpop climate in 2015 ~ i was there back then and basically every new boygroup was debuting with dark concepts. people expected svt to do the same, and that’s why their debut really stood out. it was such a breath of fresh air!! they really were the bg rookies that became known for their bright, fun, cute concepts and musical theatre-like performances. and it’s probably still the style most people associate with them. another important thing to know about kpop 2015: idols participating in music production, choreography etc wasn’t a thing at all back then. there were some idols that made their own songs (some yg idols and jonghyun coming to mind first) but a rookie group? that was mostly teenagers?? absolutely unheard of. people assumed idols would be bad at it, not to mention the majority of the companies simply wouldn’t allow it. also, the divide between idol and artist was much stronger back then. so a self-produced debut song and performance of this quality really impressed a lot of people. and a kpop group that since debut has been so hands on with their music, choreo, performances, concepts, mvs, merch, etc is (even to this day tbh) pretty unique. and about the live singing… i agree with you, its good to be attentive and critical 👍 you’re just saying the truth. personally, i’m pretty used to it and it doesn’t bother me if artists use a backtrack or lipsync in parts (e.g. when the choreo gets intense) esp since i know the svt boys CAN sing live. and do it the vast majority of the time. so at least imo they don’t have to do it every single time. there’s countless reasons why they wouldn’t and shouldn’t. and the performances are still very enjoyable so yeah <3

ooh thanks for the inside information! it's always so interesting learning about how kpop worked and was viewed at a different time. and yes, ofc they sing live and they do it WELL. and that's part of the reason why I feel less bad about talking about it... if they're that good their actual live performances just speak for themselves!
