a segment i wrote today that doesn't have a segue into the story yet but it tapped something in my brain that made me confident for the rest of the day.

conceptually at this point, ellie has gotten dina off once, and dina starts gunning to return the favor and showers ellie in compliments that make them nervous about how they've been perceived, so they ask her. 

putting my complex butch feelings into text and having them affirmed feels real good. being called pretty because someone sees me as a girl hits way different from if i was called pretty because someone sees me as butch and masculine and loves it wholeheartedly. inspiration definitely came from a league of their own in the speakeasy scene where the femme jo dances with calls her "the most beautiful thing she's ever seen." that shit blew my mind.

also implied that ellie celebrates hanukkah with joel!
