I think he’s holding back when he fights. Also, in season 1 his dad said “Viltrumite DNA is so pure you're nearly full-blooded.” So him being a halfbreed isn’t why he’s not as strong as his dad. He’s just young and inexperienced.

Recently found out that overtime the viltrumite dna overpowers the human dna so he’ll become pure viltrumite. Even the author said he made him inexperienced on purpose to show the actual growth of a zero to hero.
