From the desk of the resident griffon,

Hello everyone! Time for another post. Today we are looking into some progress made on the technical side.

A lot of progress was made to make it so that the dialogue scripting language, Jumprope, has more functionality with the following effects that would be seen in game:

  • Dialogue progression event
  • Fade in/out under ui
  • Name box
  • Dialogue box
  • Blurring backgrounds
  • Screen shake
  • Dialogue bubbles
  • Dialogue choice
  • Dialogue controls

It seems like simple stuff, and what they do is pretty self explanatory from the name, however, Error has put together a lovely little demo reel that shows off some of these new integrations!

What this means is that adding these effects, and the ones that are to come, is a lot easier to implement. Overall this makes things more optimized than creating special effects with art assets, or simply plastering it on a stage when its needed.

Another neat addition to those that understand how making poses works, is the interactive pose editor that Error developed in Unity. Where he describes it as a process "which allows you to cycle through the states of various body parts for a character and save a created configuration as a new pose.". Which will drastically cut down the time it takes to create poses in the staging phase of an update!

That marks the end of another Saturday post! Thank you all for the continued support! Have a great rest of your weekend, and until next time!
