I'm very new to using blender so I apologize if this sounds like a dumb question lol but how do I add accessories to the sim via blender?

You have to put the armature to the rig. If you dont know anything about the basics of blender there are tons of tutorials on rendering, and I usually suggest people watch blender videos that have nothing to do with the sims to learn. Its so many resources.
