English major here tho my job isn’t related anymore so I could be forgetting something lol. It’s called the Oxford comma. You use a comma before ‘and’ if the two things in the list are supposed to be separate. Ex: I had toast, oatmeal and orange juice for breakfast. (Might be taken as orange juice and oatmeal are together in a bowl). Using the oxford comma will mean orange juice and oatmeal are separate. But it won’t be grammatically wrong if you don’t use it cause context is understood either way. This is just usually used for published text using the formal style guide. Hope i explained that well enough 😅

Idol was performed at the Gyeongbokgung Palace. It was the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty. Home of the king of Joseon (Korea). They rented the entire place for this and Mikrokosmos performance 💅

Idol was performed in front of Geunjeongjeon Hall of Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul. The palace is a national monument. The beautiful outfits (one of my favourites from them) were inspired by the traditional hanbok

They performed idol at the Gyeongbokgung Palace in Korea, which has been one of my favorite all time performances of this song.

The place they performed Mikrokosmos is Gyeonghoeru Pavilion of Gyeongbokgung Palace, a Royal Palace back in Joseon Dynasty. I've been to Gyeongbokgung Palace a few years ago. Very nice and beautiful, worth a visit (always packed with tourists though).

same here! I love Idol performances mainly because they wore Hanbok, but being in Gyeongbokgung Palace which has so much historical significance in Korean culture hits different with our guys dancing Idol in beautiful modern hanbok 💜🥰

i just wished you watch the bangtan episode when they were filming the performances as well, but this is a great long video too thanks! also, they are correctly pronouncing jungkook's name. it's not literally a strong koo(k) like 'coo(k)', the k in the end is actually more silent or more breathy. if you listen to the other members closely, they also pronounce it like 'jeong-gu'. but jungkook is accepted as well because that's how they romanized it, but it is technically not the correct pronunciation.

Gyeonbukgong Palace is absolutely fantastic. It was the main palace in the Joseon period.It is massive and I believe BTS are the first to film a video in there. Idol was sung in front of the Kings palace and the pavilion is set with a lake in front of it and it is very tranquil. It gets extremely busy and many dress up in full Joseon costumes, so nice. Loved all the clips and watch the behind scenes of the roller skating is hilarious. J Hope and V falling all over the place with Jungkook trying to hold V and Jin with J Hope very funny. Although RM is no5 particularly know for his athletic ability he is ace at roller skating a hobby he had in his childhood. RM, Jin, Jungkook and Jimin are very good, Suga can at least stay upright and the other two so funny. 42 days until Jin comes home, yeh! 💜💜💜💜

Here to defend Gabriel as a nationally certified English writing tutor 😂-- you do place a comma before the and in a list of 3 or more items/names. This is called the Oxford comma. There are some special instances where it isn't required (like in a newspaper article) but in almost all cases it is, at least in the U.S.

CCW is sassy recording after lunch. I love it. This video has such great vibes. Instant favorite. I don’t remember if he did this the first time they were on his show, but I really appreciate how Jimmy introduces BTS as a band or group. I feel like he purposefully avoids using the term “boy band” because of all the negative connotations associated with it in western media.

Yasss been there as well and it’s so nice! I remember especially when there was like a show being performed by dancers wearing traditional korean clothing (hanbok) and bands using traditional korean instruments. It’s like you are in a kdrama set in Joseon dynasty. 😁

The night they recorded their Mikrokosmos performance was the day they found they hit No.1 at the Billboard Hot 100 for Dynamite. BangPD himself delivered the news to the boys and cried over the phone. It’s one of my most favorite behind the scenes 💜

Ah I remember how much we enjoyed this week in the middle of lockdown. A whole week I woke up at 6 am (my time for the live Jimmmy Fallon show) and watched the episode just before going to work at the hospital. It was so cool. Their performance of Black Swan here is truly so cinematic. Also for Idol and Mikrocosmos both they actually filmed on site at The Royal Palace of the king during Joseon dinasty in Seoul "Gyeongbokgung Palace". The moon and some of the wide shots are a touch enhanced in post but for the most part it's all real.

This was so much fun 😭💜 the venues where they performed Mikrokosmos and Idol are actually real historical places in Korea. BTS are ambassadors for k-tourism I think so it's probably why they chose those venues, to showcase their beautiful country.

Yay! I love that you watched all of these at once. Considering there's so much content for BTS - especially on late night talk shows, this was a great decision! I'm pretty sure, as far as group content on Fallon goes, you just have their Butter/Permission to Dance performances, the Will it Fit Game + interviews from 2021 and the bonus performance of "I'm Fine" from Fallon in 2018. Someone please correct me if I am forgetting one. I know you saw Yoongi's appearance, so that leaves Jimin and Jungkook's appearances from 2023. I love Jimmy's dynamic with the members ... you can tell he enjoys being around them, and who wouldn't?! :-)

Jimmy probably had someone tell him you don't pronounce the K at the end of Jungkook, since it's not meant to be a hard K sound. More like when you say 'doctor' and do a sharp stop at C and hold your tongue back.

They performed Idol & Mikrokosmos at the Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul. It was one of the main palaces until 1895. Idol was in front of the Geunjeongjeon Grand Residence buit in 1395, the throne hall where kings met his officials and greeted foreign visitors, held all the important royal ceremonies (the moon/sky was post-filming CGI production). The few steps of stairs behind them is where visitors can use the left & right sides but NOT the middle, because only the Kings can use it. I remember in an interview or filming making, one of them member said they felt such a privillage they were allowed to filmed there & have the stage across the whole stairs. Mikrokosmos was the Gyeonghoeru Pavillion buit in 1412 & was used for big state dinners. It is located on a little island in the middle of a lake with beautiful scenary There was a clip of BTS on a call with Pang PD during this filming which was so heart-warming. I remember every day that week I was so excitedly waiting for them. Also, they performed all these before Suga had his shoulder surgery... I can't imagine what level of pain he had to endure for these dances. Out of all the American host, Jimmy Fallon is my favorite. He always shows genuine interested and love to BTS (FYI- use of commas before "and" is optional if you are listing more than 3 similar things as long as you are consistent how you use it. No comma is needed when listing two things only. However, if you are connecting two independent subjects/sentence, then a comma should be placed before "and". )

As a creative writing major, I’m absolutely with Gabriel on this one. Oxford commas are necessary and I’m still mad that the AP stylebook deemed it unnecessary. But note that this only applies to journalists, because brevity rules over clarity in journalism. It is, however, still absolutely grammatically correct to use the Oxford comma.

I teach 5th grade, and in my normal writing, I do not use the Oxford comma. But when I write for students, I find it to be a necessity. They notice; they call me out. It's just easier to use it. I've told them about how many people don't use it - but they see it in black and white - if it's a rule, it's a rule!

Jungkook is actually not pronounced how many western Army pronounce it. I always go back to the first time I talky heard him introduce homesite himself on After School Club (I loved when they were on ASC - I'd stay up late just to watch it live and see my comments come up on the screen).
