フェルンは、戦争孤児だったが大司教ハイターに救われた、優れた才能を持つ魔術師見習い。 ハイターはその後、フェルンに魔法を教えるだけでなく、フェルンを旅に連れて行くようフリーレンに頼みます。

Fern is a war orphan who was saved by Archbishop Heiter and is an apprentice magician with outstanding talent. Heiter then asks Frieren not only to teach Fern magic, but also to take Fern with her on her journey.
