Perfect Timing for 3rd Anniversary of Super Mario Odyssey.

Taylor Russell

OOMF! Aw baby, this mix is fuckin CLEAN. SUPER clean!!! Man, like, I'm finding it hard to describe why this is so great? Like, the sound quality is so clear and the sections are all so well balanced but also so DISTINCT! Everything has a chance to shine while also never drowning out the other elements. The high sections are high, the low sections are low, the rhythm is pronounced but not overwhelming. It maintains the spirit of the original while also gaining a higher energy all on its own! Like... Damn dude, THIS is the kinda stuff that keeps me coming back to your work! Damn, dude. Nice friggin' work!

These Switch arrangements are so advanced that it's hard to make them convincingly 16bit. Even when I have substituted some of the FM instruments for the PSG Square waves, it still sounds too complex for the real YM2612 chip. But I think most of my YouTube subs are aware I don't often stay restricted to the console limitations

Oh yeah, I've abandoned trying to hold remixers up to chip capabilities a long time ago. No way something like this could play on a megadrive. But for real though, if "breaking the rules" lands you with excellent results like this, I for one am ALL FOR IT. It kinda sorta lifts the YM2612 up into, at the risk of sounding corny, an evolved version of itself. Like a more advanced version of it the chip, but not abandoning the "core" of what makes it unique.

Don't worry about it Man! Totally understandable.
