Dear Patrons,

you have been watching the development of Vagrus - The Riven Realms from the first row, so to say, and hopefully you like what you have seen so far. Today we turn to you because as we are nearing the release of our demo, we need your help with two things: Quotes about the game and Testing!

Quotes About the Game

We're planning to start a 'Quote of the Week' series on our social media channels and would like to give you as Patrons the chance to share your thoughts about the game in the form of one-liners (in other words, we need your help). :)

Chauncey's comment on our Camp UI post is quite a good example for what we are looking for:
'Yesss, it’s like all the best elements of the timeless classic Oregon Trail in a much cooler strategy framework.'

It would be of great help if you could send one (or more) quotes like that, on any parts or aspect of the game, be it style, game mechanics, artwork, even about the development process if you feel like it. Please also include how we should display your name or nickname.

You can send quotes by one of the following ways:

  • Leaving it as a comment under this post
  • Sending it as a message on Patreon
  • Sending it via email to info@vagrus.com
  • Messaging it to us via Discord
  • Posting it on any of our social media accounts

Looking for Testers

Though it took a little longer than originally expected, we are now very close to having a game build that we would like others to try and give feedback on. Those who volunteer for the task - to be absolutely open and clear about it - should not yet expect a seamless flow, a once in a lifetime game experience. It is about helping us with testing even if we tried to sell it with 'Be the first to see the game!' or other shenanigans.

Vagrus is a narrative game and the Prologue follows a more or less fixed path so in case you want to play it again, you will know most of the story already. We mention that not to scare you away but so that you know what you sign up to beforehand. If you do decide to join testing at a later stage, only when there are - supposedly - fewer bugs and more functionality, that makes absolute sense and we respect that, even encourage that in the sense that you know best how much time you can and want to spend with the game. Ultimately, we want to you to be happy, hell even thrilled when you get to play the game. It is also worth mentioning that the 'actual' gameplay - after finishing the Prologue - is intended to give the player the sort of free roaming experience that is much less prone to wearing out due to repetition in events and stories since there will be a fairly great variation that you as the player can control by picking different directions, companions, contracts, etc. All that will make testing the Early Access content way more fun, at least that is how we imagine it now.

If you are still interested in joining the testing of the Prologue, then please do the following:

  • Join our Discord server if you have not done so yet (the test coordination will be done through that).
  • Comment into General chat that you are interested in Prologue testing.
  • Register yourself on itch.io (the game portal we will publish our build on): https://itch.io/

By applying, you confirm that you are willing to log bugs and/or missing features through a form we will provide a link to later.

A few technicalities: we're planning on getting the Windows PC build fully operational first, then move on to MAC and may or may not cover tablets in this cycle (might keep that to EA only). The testing itself is expected to start sometime in October, so do let us know in the coming days if you are up for the task.

Thanks a lot in advance!
