The Prologue Map (Patreon)

So, you asked for a map of the Riven Realms and ye shall receive... a part of it! Since developing the huge (HUGE!) world map is very much in progress, it'll be some time until we can show all of it. This is where the Prologue is set and a very generous estimate would make it a tiny part compared to the full world map.

As you can see, the whole thing is painted, there are no tiles, and no procedural generation. The intimidatingly talented Bazsó is responsible for hand-crafting this thing of beauty and peril - because rest assured, this map section alone contains dangers unfathomable. It is basically the meeting point of three distinct regions: the Realms of Despair in the North, the fiery mountain regions of the West called Dvendar Tharr, and the arid Searing Plains in the South and East. Also there's a bit of the Jagged Waste and the Ashlands in the Northeast. The names of these gigantic regions are also missing from this map but will be visible on a chart we are working on.

Some sub-regions and their related location artworks you have seen already:

Molten Tongue: Although the name is not there (it'd be too large so we removed it), the lava rivers are collectively called the 'Molten Tongue' with Fury's Whip being the thick part coming down from the mountains.

Arenas Negras: The infamous and seemingly empty Desert of Black Sands dominates the mid-northern area.

Smolderbone Flats: This plains region is perhaps less deadly compared to the surrounding areas and has the city of Avernum on it.

Avernum: The largest city and thus center-point of the whole region when it comes to trade and culture.

Arenas Vorax: The great Devouring Desert is famous for its tendency to swallow men and beasts alike.

Scrapheap: This scavenger town is where the Prologue starts. Parts of its artwork can be seen all around our Patreon site (for example, the main page header).

We are busy working on a world map (in a chart format) that has all the continent on it but it'll be some time till we can reveal it, so bear with us!
