I LOVE Lupin III. I can only speak of the anime (particular the 1977 one), but it had such a fun attitude around it. It's rare to see a show where the basic plotlines are so simple (i.e. Lupin and co. Want to steal X, Zenigata wants to capture Lupin), but the characters manage to remain fresh and dynamic in their personalities. I generally find the 'heroes' of shows pretty dull, but I'll be darned if I didn't find 'Pops' endearing. Sad to hear the creator passed away.

I have to admit, I only recently watched my first Lupin III adventure... me I found the characters fascinating. It's a fitting tribute.
