I just want to be clear that both Lucas Gotthardt and Seth Halabay are toxic “love interests,” and the main characters are meant to undergo quite a bit of character development in regards to their affections towards them.

This is for the sake of a bit of realism, as most of us have had unhealthy attractions or involvements in our life that we don’t really understand are unhealthy at the time.

One of the original struggles (and roadblocks) I had with each of these stories was the daunting task of introducing a new character — a love interest, that was comparable in intensity but healthier for main characters — that readers would be more excited about (as readers tend to get attached to the first love interest introduced, no matter how bad they are! Haha.  There are also not many chapters of either Wicked Boy or The Taste of Ash to show you just how toxic Lucas and Seth are, so I understand.)

As you know, the character of “Rowan”  (who I grew incredibly attached to before I made him toxic as well, mostly out of necessity, because people were jumping ship on Oliver and Tobias hahaha) and The Huxley Ghoules are being removed from Black velvet, to have the central focus be Tobias’ growth past his childhood trauma.  (As it was initially)

“Rowan“ is being remade into someone just as severe and villainous feeling but as a (trust my character development, please!) actually, a healthy love interest for another story (I am so attached too his scenes and character, for some reason I enjoyed him and I hope you all did too!)

In which one of these stories would you like ”Rowan” and The Huxley Ghoules to be a part of?  I have a very thorough plan for each, as I’ve spent a while considering this.  Of course, I value you guys’ opinion above all else, and I have a difficult time choosing.  I also have a back-up plan for each, so don’t worry.

this is tricky bc i didn't know lucas wouldn't be the healthy love interest, esp from the first time i read the first couple chapters of wicked boy years ago, and rowan definitely had my ire in BV. so trying to see rowan as the better choice is hard aksksks. im not attached yet to seth so my selfish choice is the taste of ash, rowan can usurp seth all day if he wants 😭😭😭 buttttt if i think about it logically, the taste of ash is still in jameson so there's still that small town feel there while wicked boy feels like it has more room for travel. honestly though, at the end of the day, wherever your vision takes you is what matters because when you write it and we read it, we'll most likely see your vision, too, and enjoy it no matter what! im definitely guilty of getting attached to the first introduced love interest, but im not a stranger to underdog love interests being endgame, so im open to whatever you feel is right!

Okay! Yes, Rowan was definitely supposed to have your ire! (I totally get where you’re coming from. Then I look back to Tobias, and who he was in Taste of Ash — and how much people loaaaathed him and I think, I can make you love him 😉). Only I’m renaming him, I think. I’m definitely going to go with my gut and do my best for you guys! I think you’ll be excited as it gets further along! ❤️

Bruh I literally recently became your Patreon so I didn’t know you aren’t including Rowan and the Ghouls. And I literally started crying! I’m tearing up right now!!! 😭😭😭 I LOVED the contrast between the Tobias and Rowan. I... I just can’t believe it!! Rowan was such a good character in the story and I loved him!! He brought out something a little different in Oliver! 😫😭😭😭

He loved the contrast too, but ultimately he didn’t suit the story or the small town feel of Black Velvet’s original storyline. I also thought he was too grand, stealing the subtleties away from Tobias’ unrecognized trauma. Sorry!
