Crafting Material, Uncommon

Volcanos are true forces of nature. Even in a world where people learned to bend magic to their will, I have witnessed more tragedies than I would like caused by those magma-filled mountains. One of them led me to the discovery of the Emberwood. I was part of the rescue team in the fallen city of Fjordien when I noticed that in the sea of ash and destruction, a tree seemed to be unharmed by the effects of the molten lava.

Later I found out that the heat and the underground magma streams infused the tree's wood over time, imbuing it with the power of fire. The wood became able to ignite itself and burn with intense heat, but the fire would never consume it. However, the tree's proximity to the volcano also made it incredibly dangerous, as it was constantly at risk of being engulfed by fire and molten lava.

Proficiency Needed

To craft an item using Emberwood, you must first use Arcana to properly seal the tree with magic runes to avoid the wood igniting during the harvest. After that, you'll need proficiency in Woodcarver or Carpenter's tools. Carpenter's tools to build structures, furniture, or large materials, and Woodcarver's tools to work with small and more detailed objects.

Emberwood trees are dangerous. Any mistake may lead to explosive effects, as the whole tree ignites in flames and expels molted lava around it. The tree can also attract creatures such as Magma and Smoke Mephits.

Know uses

The major property of Firewood is its ability to burn without ever being consumed. Its uses go from eternal fire pits to reusable flaming arrows. Some carpenters have tried to build entire houses using this magic wood, attempting to ease the temperatures in arctic regions, but this material is unstable, and those houses end up burning eventually.

We used Emberwood to craft the Wooden Phoenix here on the Legacy Forge. A sword that turns even defensive moves a threat to the enemies around you.
