Crafting material, rare

No matter how advanced the world becomes, there'll always be those who prefer the old ways. There are places in this plane that still hold a deep connection to the primal magic that created the land we live on.

Druidic circles built their camps around those places, adding yet more magic to already sacred sites. Sometimes, in those locations, old trees suddenly appear covered in a pure white wooden shell. Druids call it Whitebark.

Once this magical material covers a piece of wood, it never again loses its connection to the vitality that flows from the world. No matter the conditions, weather, or environment, it'll always be ready to grow and sprout in life. That makes it a precious material with a great potential

to create items that could help the survival of many in deserts and other dry regions.

Many druids once achieved higher rankings on the druidic circle receive as a gift, a quarterstaff made of whitebark.

Proficiency needed

To be able to craft something using Whitebark, you first need a strong sense of Nature to be able to locate and harvest it. You need proficiency in Woodcarver or Carpenter's tools to build something out of it. You'll use the Carpenter's tools to build structures, furniture, or large materials. To work with small and more detailed objects, you'll need Woodcarver's tools.

Primal magic is not something that the Arcana books can teach you, but something you learn to feel and accept. If you need to make checks about understanding the flow of primal magic, consider using Insight or Survival. I believe that both these skills are deeply involved with instinctive thinking.

Most common uses

This magical wood is often used to build utility items like fences that help the plantations of a certain area grow faster and stronger or wooden boxes that could keep fruits and vegetables from rotting for longer periods of time. There are those that take it to the next level and create truly powerful items that remind us of how brutal and mighty Nature can be when provoked.

Here on the Legacy Forge, we used Whitebark to create the Seedsprout, a wooden quarterstaff that can help adventures find a safe place to rest in situations that otherwise could lead to their demise.
