In this class I'm giving you my thoughts on when staying in key is useful and how to do so. I've added some videos to show how to stay in key in the different DAWs. If you have any questions, you can use the form at the bottom of the page or send me a message here on Patreon. Hope it will be helpful!

I will announce the next masterclass livestream next week. You can watch yesterday's stream (Livestream 13) here:

This is a good topic! It would be sweet to explore this more. I've had this topic in mind from quite a while. In past I've mostly worked with atonal sounds since I make heavy use of pitch-bending. I want to work on tuning my sounds to scale and figure out different ways of doing that. For example a sound could be a chord rather than just a single note, or there could be a series of sounds in different notes of the scale to make sequences. At times I use a lot of automation and modulation and it can be hard to get precise tuning to exact pitches in Ableton especially when the pitch is being modulated. I would love to talk in detail about this in future. We could talk about it on the Discord server later if you are up for that. Thanks for the post!

Yess I appreciate the feedback, I love both using atonal and tonal sounds sometimes--or both in combination of course. Pretty interesting how notes can interact to form chords and definitely something to explore. I'm up for talking about it on Discord for sure! It can be difficult to get the tuning right for sure when messing with modulation a lot. Sometimes you can use Ableton Live's "Tuner" to detect notes, but it doesn't always work. Sometimes the only option you have is to try to detect it by ear, by trying to match other sounds with it

Yep I think in the end if it sounds good then it just sounds good even if it defies all conventions and rules. One can listen to the relevant notes or melody and adjust it manually by ear! Sometimes we just need to feel, tune in and drop out.
