About "Best Mult Club". (Patreon)

Alright, since more and more people keep asking me about this, I think I need to publicly address this issue. 

I hate to waste my time on this, but I don't I can avoid this stupid drama any longer...


I am talking about "Best Mult Club". https://www.patreon.com/bestmultclub

I want to make sure that people are aware that (despite whatever lies they are spewing) I DO NOT approve of what "BMC" is doing with my games. (I also do not approve of their pseudo-friendly attitude).


About a month ago they finally decided to contact me. I could show you the letter but it was in russian. Basically it went something like this:


"Hello, Akabur, my dear friend. I really like your work. I know you don't approve of me modding your game but I honestly don't see why. And I know that I probably should have asked your permission before I started to made some money at your expense but I knew you would say "no" anyway, so I decided not to bother. Also I wish we could be friends. Love and kisses."


That part about "I knew you would say NO so I decided not to ask you at all" just left me speechless. I mean you can't really argue with that logic, can you? 0_0


I have to admit it was really difficult for me to come up with a reply not contain swearing words. But I did manage to do so. I sent them a short and rather polite letter, saying that I don't approve of what they do and that I wish they would stop, or at least would not say that they have my permission and approval. 


In their reply BMC flat out demanded that I would give them my approval. I ignored that letter because clearly they don't know how "approvals" work. 


And yes, I know that there are other people who do similar thing with my work, but Best Mult Club is the most obnoxious offender by far.

 

That being said I ask you to try and keep a cool head about this whole thing. I know some of you may feel outraged with they way "BMC" is behaving ( I know I do),  but I would REALLY appreciate it if you could refrain from bullying BMC and sending them hate-messages. Let's be better people than BMC. 


IMPORTANT!!!: Let me repeat myself: please DO NOT send any hateful messages to BMC, this is not why I made this post. I just want you to know the whole story.

The guy is pure spam. I see him spamming all public posts from pretty much every creator just to try and get people to click on his username. If it wasn't for the fact he uses your work in his display picture, nobody would bother. Glad to hear you're back on with SC34 though!

You know what I appreciate about you Akabur? You don't have some bullshit scheme of making money with levels of patronage, you don't have any barriers, you present your work to the public and let it speak for itself. That is powerful, and that shows dedication, courage, and above all a due diligence to your craft. When people copy your work, copy your artwork, it is readily obvious to everyone involved. I can tell your artwork from a mile away because you are consistent and diligent to your craftsmanship. Other people are going to copy your work, copy your craft, and try to imitate you. When people latch onto your shooting star it's a hallmark of success. At the end of the day, you're going to be left standing on your own two feet because you refuse to lean on stealing the craftsmanship of others. Imitators will come and go, but Innovators will always remain. Keep on rocking in the free world man, you're a success.

Personally I'd report them to Patreon if I was you, this is blatant copyright infringement, but it would probably just give you more hate from a small number of people. Like you said, be better :)

Sounds like a pretty simple case of content theft to me. The thing i don't get about those people: You're trying to sell something that is grey content (i.e. based on licensed works), so why desperatly attempting to keep a clean and white fassade. There's no legal challenge coming your way anyway. If you want to be a thief, at least be a thief with some sort of dignity.

Plagiarism comes in all shapes and forms.. but I'm not going to talk about this too much because 1. you probably want to forget all about this and continue with your work and 2. I've already said that no one cant beat the originals and that great minds like you will always have copycats... but there are more important things to think about. Like how great it is to hear that you finished the BHB stuff and got back to working on SC34!!! xD I'm so excited.. Work your Russian butt off like always and forget about the drama... Focus on all your supporters instead, because we are eagerly waiting for your next masterpiece.

I dont know what you said in russian but there is a big difference between a *parody* and *copying* . Akabur either parodies or makes his own stories and games, while using different characters (also known as CAMEO'S). BMC is using the EXACT SAME content but adding to the story.. that's not a MOD, mods change game mechanics and sometimes the story completely so the mechanics make sense. You should know the difference between Parody's, Mod's, Cameo's and Plagiarism. SSR7 or ZTV are just like Akabur.... Akabur's PT, SSR7's SU, and ZTV's whole brand are parodies, "WT russian edition" or whatever it's called would be considered a MOD, Akabur's MS and SC34 ORIGINAL game have Cameo's in them... (those too also hold some parody content.) BMC however is plagiarism and tries to hide behind the title of "mod".... which is just a sad joke. Educate yourself before you dare call out my man Akabur.

To be perfectly honest, at first I thought these guys were working on a legitimate spin-off to which you had given the green light (even unofficially) so I gave them my dollar to play the first demo. Then, of course, I realized what their deal was about and quickly deleted my pledge. Well, I wish I could say this was the ONLY time I was conned out of a dollar... :P Still, I'm a sucker for needless net-drama so it was good learning the entire back story!

Their attitude is just the worst, if there is no respect for the Creator or Creation it simply can't be a fan project a mod as are known to be but instead a ripoff, sailing on the success and popularity of the original creation. I am i game Modder like them, but my modding moral is very different. all my creations require the original game or mod to work their "Mod" also seems to come packed with all the necessary files to start it... to me it looks like content thieft, and not that much a mod Akabur, if i would mod one of your Games likely be Station 34, as it is open for ideas, characters, and dialogs but i don't think i would be able to do it any justice... in comparison to what you can make, and with you being back to working on it again is Great to hear! ^^

Sometimes I wonder Why are there so many hentai games in "Russian"... Then I see when you started and probably, just probably, you were inspiration for many of them to create something unique, original and grateful. I´m not Russian, but defintely you were an inspiration for me, your princess trainer was really a gift and trully experience. But get inspiration is different from making a MOD without the permission of the original author. (Or at least is what I think...). BMC doesn´t look as a bad programmer, but that behaviour on continue working on something from someone else, in my opinion is not the best behaviour in this world of such greatful persons who support your for the love on your work... I hope they can see that someday and change their behaviour to give us something original and greatful. Thank you for your kind words. I am very lucky to have so much support from the people, and because of that I don't need to try and sell anything - I can just share my work for free. To be honest that is probably one of the biggest joys for any artist. ^^ Patreon is slowly turning into something very commercial. Now days they have "pay upfront" feature and even "Hide my income" feature. But I hope those will remain being just options, because honestly I am perfectly content with the way everything is working right now. Having no need use for any paywalls is a bliss ^_^

Why not report them to Patreon? Tell the whole story and their response. That is incriminating enough. Patreon has rules regarding copyright and posting other artists' work and these are definitely in violation. The people who run Patreon are a married couple of musicians, not businessmen so they will be excited to take them down to protect an artists rights to their work. We work far too hard on what we do and have someone take what little we get in return. Do it for the little guys!

I've noticed that "best mult club" has been commenting on basically every other creator of this types posts. They're definitely trying hard to be very visible. I tried the demo out awhile ago out of curiosity and after hearing your reply (Akabur) about the situation it makes sense now. I was appalled by their fillin art and writing. It is so out of character. Well now that a lot of us know, it should help people make a decision about supporting them.

I understand modding, I made mods for Half-Life 1 back in the day. However, modding is a hobby, you do not make money off modding someone elses hard work, this might have started sooner, but I noticed modders trying to make a living off it with Minecraft, and then later, the whole Skyrim paid mods drama that they quickly pulled down. If you want to make money, make your own game. I am not even going to look at this BMC, they sicken me.

I really wish Star Channel 34 will also get Daphne Greengrass, i've played the official version and also the Modded version from Sad Crab.. I dont know if they Akabur and the Sad Crab group has any bad history or something.. but i find that Dahpnie's Arc on the modded version was really nice &gt;:3 if not maybe someone can just mod her in when the game is at full public release *hint *hint *Nudge *Nudge XD

Imho, this post gives some lamers with no talent at all (other than for "brushing off from someone else work") some undeserved attention. I'd have done the same tho, and prolly even earlier than you (because I got a veeery bad temper, basically). "I knew you wouldn't give your permission so I didn't bother asking"? Given that Akabur's work uses characters he has no rights to I seriously doubt he'd have a leg to stand on in an legal sense. To be be frank the only real legal difference I can see between Mult club's work and Akabur's is the quality of it. (Mult Club has none.)

totally agree AKABUR there are lots of people ripping your work. But BMC is just outright slapping you in the face with that message. if this becomes more of an issue you may want to look into the fair use laws that are applicable to your work. and yes I know putting more energy into a stupid thing like this sucks ...but they and others are going to keep doing it until you do something. and for people who are doing this ask AKABUR or keep it to yourself.

Khm... PATREON DRAMA ALERT. Akabur, you are great. I mean, you handled this situation without aggression! I understand, when people want to modificate games, that's fine, but when they are asking money for it then that is just pathetic. For example, Sad you know who, they gived a bunch of promises and started getting money. And like for a 1/4 of the year they got a lot. But, at least they are doing new game with new art and characters and they kinda stopped parasiting on your work. And this BMC is just... I don't even know how to call him. I don't think what either one of you is doing is copyright infringement if you label it parody. However hardcopying someones script is. The quick way to beat these thieves though is by making the patrons aware so they diverge their funds to akabur. Which is easily done if we keep alerting members on their page.

No. Parody is just that PARODY, altering images and likeness and names so that you know it is meant to be a representation of the thing without actually being the thing. Like how porn parody's name themselve "This ain't the Brady Bunch! the general look and feel of the thing is used, but names are changed to sound similar but be different. Slapping PARODY on Akubur's work would not hold up in an actual court because it's not really a parody, he's copied the actual names and likenesses of the IP's to sell it. What he does is copyright infringement. (Glorious, beautiful copyright infringement that I love, but infringement nonetheless.) His operation is small enough, (and he lives in Russia) so I wager he'll manage to keep flying under the radar. If anything he should be completely ignoring Mult Club, because if he does manage to attract attention to them for what they're doing it would probably come back to bite him too.
