Paris WIPs (Patreon)

Here are the wip shots for Roza's recent trip to Paris. ;)
Overall I can't say this one took me too long compared to my other pics, it was a lot of work and detail though. Mainly I struggled with the rendering phase. Especially when it came to rendering Roza's body, making sure that her highlights looked smooth and natural enough. I've been wanting to practice light on skin a lot lately and want to incorporate this into my work.
Through the drawing phase, Roza actually started out as a simple anatomical sketch as I hadn't drawn freely in some time. Getting her arms and hands right was rough, and the bike, especially the headlamp position with the wheel turned to the side was a nightmare with me trailing through a tonne of references.
I'd tried to experiment with lighting in this one. From the beginning, I wanted a strong contrast of blues and that pinkish-orange sunlight that bounces off white stone buildings to be present. As usual, I overworked it, which is a habit I am trying to get rid of and not overly rendering things to death, keeping it more painterly and having more contrast with tones. Here I think I got maybe half of each. It's still hard for me not to overly render and fuss about things looking perfect still.
This one took me maybe 25 hours in total.
