Library WIP shots (Patreon)

Here are the various WIP shots showing the progression of my latest piece.

For some background about the image, I started it in the middle of 2020, where for a long while it remained in its sketch stage. I constantly went back and forth, trying to sort out anatomical mistakes and getting the two Khajiit faces right, a process you can probably see, even in the more later WIPs as I even made a change right at the end. The Male's back anatomy had me scratching my head for a long time.

I also didn't draw for a good few months too, during lockdown, being busy with my day job, so that is why this one mostly took as long as it did.

When I finally decided to crack on with this image and get it done, it was quite the challenge. I think overall I must have put 40 hours into it, especially with the background. 

Summerset, where this image takes place, in the Elderscrolls universe, is very grand. A mix of classical Roman and late Victorian architecture and furniture design. Lots of mahogany, and which is typical of the Altmer, grapes, vines and feather imagery.

As you can probably tell, refining the background took the most time, and only then, was I ready to do so once everything, like colour and perspective looked fairly ok for me. I still think there are issues with it, but, it is done now at least. 

Overall, I am glad I finished this one, though I run into the trap of overworking things, which is something I should avoid int the future.
