What a wild ride this show has been!

I've since seen some people say online that this season was disappointing compared to season 1. I think I understand where that comes from, because the scope of season 1 was much smaller and much more confined, you really got extra attached to the characters and the mystery of the monsters was definitely compelling in it's own way. It was also paced better imo, but something both seasons have in common is the fact that it's a little difficult to keep track of how much time is passing when the characters don't explicitly say it.

I personally enjoy both seasons about the same, I think. I enjoyed the more intimate setting of season 1, but I also enjoy the world-building of season 2. Season 2 is very cynical about the nature of humans though, so many characters (mostly the military f***s ) were so unfathomably cruel that it was hard to really root for the survival of them. That's not a critique, because I don't think that it's an unrealistic take, but it did make it harder to stomach as compared to seeing how the neighbors journey to squadding up in season 1. All in all, if you take this season as sort of a transitional season, I think it works very well, because I didn't expect that any of the plotlines they were laying to be fully resolved by the end of the season given the fact that it was only 8 episodes this time.

SUPER excited to see Eunhyuk back because his and Eunyu's relationship is something I'm very interested in as someone with many younger sisters (three to be exact, I'm the middle child-), and also I ship him and Hyunsu-

Which would never happen through a canon perspective, but that's the most intriguing relationship in the entire show to me so just let me be delulu-

VERY mixed feelings on Yikyeong though, but I respect that she did her best given the circumstances (and post-partem is really a thing, especially when the child doesn't enter the world in the way that the mom wanted them to). I have a lot of sympathy for her, and her story really is quite tragic to me, but I'm personally a big communication person, even if you think that who you're talking to may not quite understand, so I think there were a few moments where she was cruel to her daughter that could have been smoothed over had she communicated her intentions and reasons before doing what she did, rather than after (I'm mostly referring to the cutting her in order to make sure it's actually her-), but Yikyeong was also going through it heavy so I do feel for her.

SUPER looking forward to the next season, though I really, REALLY hope that Eunyu and Hyunsu's relationship remains platonic, that would actually kind of hurt the show in a big way for me, because I found a lot of nuance and joy in them being platonic besties/found family (also I like them both with other people by a very wide margin lol-). I could go on but this is getting kinda long so if you're curious on my final thoughts of anything other than what I mentioned here, just leave comment asking and I respond directly.

We'll be starting The Glory next week!
