I like talking about storytelling, and I've found I have a fascination with stories set in abandoned places. There's something that gets me about communing with a physical space. From Annihilation to What Remains of Edith Finch to House of Leaves, this video is about why these stories resonate with us.

Next video will be on soft worldbuilding—exploring Lovecraft, Hollow Knight, and a few other stories.

Became a Patron after watching this on Nebula. It describes a feeling I’ve always gotten when playing certain games in other genres (Zelda, Shadow of the Colossus) that I’ve never really been able to give voice to on my own.

Have you ever heard of Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon? It's an old Wii game, that my father got for me with a bunch of others. I love it dearly, but I can never find people who have played it. It has a similar vibe of being in an abandoned place, getting to know the ruins of what used to be, and it has a theme of discovering yourself in these sorts of places. I highly recommend it! It's very good
