Empires are complex. They're definitely more complex than I can summarise, they're almost definitely more complex than you or I know, and they're infinitely more complex than a simple post here can say. Another awesome video. I'm glad you decoupled nationalism and fascism/nazis, because that's the first place most Americans will go and get all up in arms about because of all the bullshit going on over there RN. As horrible as that all is, and I'm not saying things are necessarily better elsewhere but America ain't the whole world and some of us don't have white nationalists in public office. Sure Australia has plenty of racists and other horrible things going on over here, but Nazis ain't the thing happening everywhere. Just thought it needs to be said. =P Loved your examples of non Nazi nationalists. The whole topic is very interesting and very worthy of discussions and videos. Especially for us fantasy nerds who love us some good world building!

I was originally hesitant to include nationalism as a motivation, but my friend, who studied this stuff, thought it was a good one to use, so I went with his thoughts. It was important to decouple them. Hopefully you'll enjoy part 3 just as much!
