Sorry this didn't come out earlier! I've been working on it all day and just managed to finish it in time. But I really enjoyed making this (a cross between Lord of the Rings and the On Writing series), as we get to discuss Campbell's Hero Journey structure and how it fits into Tolkien's work.

Jakku isn't really Rey's "Ordinary World". It's her prison. She physically bound to it, but her mind is already out in space. And I'd hoped for a Matrix comparison as the second big Hero's Journey implementation in film.

You're totally right! I should have been a little clearer. Jakku was never going to feel as homely as the Shire precisely *because* it was never intended to fulfill the same narrative role.
