At the beginning of our bass journey, a lot of us bassists try to avoid using our pinky finger... It feels too weak and awkward 🤣

Trust me, I get it - I did the same thing for a while but the longer you shy away from using your pinky, the harder it will be to get into action later. And trust me, if you're in this for the long haul, you're going to have to use your pinky sooner or later, so get working on your pinky technique with this workout!

Great exercise. I have a particular issue I think is related to my small hands. I have good positioning with all fi gers on my left hand except my ring finger, which tends to flatten out, especially when moving from it to my pinky. Any suggestions?

How small we talking? I'm 5'4", and my hands are so small I can really only reach an Octave+1 on piano if I really stretch for it. For individual notes I don't really have much trouble with even my pinky, but that's probably because I played Cello in school and my left hand strength is actually really good. I do have trouble with a number of chords and often have to find alternate fingerings or make quick shifts between crossing strings.
