My fellow bassists,

Here's a new tapping etude for you! This one's in C Minor and it focuses on a few different techniques including slides, pull-offs and arpeggiated melodies. These are all techniques I use a lot in my tapping compositions, and I think you'll find they open up a lot of possibilities when it comes to your tapping skills!

In this video, I thought it was important to let you hear the song first with no accompaniment, so you know what kind of sound to aim for, so I'd recommend just watching the first time I play through.

Thanks for coming here and practising with me! As always, let me know if you have any questions at all, have a great weekend and I'll see you in the next lesson!

Thx so much for another fantastic Intermediate Tapping Lesson. This will sound great in a set right next to a piece like Moonlight. While learning this I also made some mistakes that really inspired me to play with what you’ve written here by altering these chords. I’m collecting ideas for writing my own pieces. Hopefully soon I can write something of my own that’s just as beautiful.

That's great to hear! Learning etudes helped a lot with my composition skills, so I'm glad it's having the same effect for you

I’d be interested to see angle of the back of your hand on the neck (left hand). Your thumb always seems very low when your tapping. I naturally position mine around the middle of the neck. I’m trying to figure out if this is bad technique.

Such a sad song, been making up different lyrics…
