When Tatsuya did something to Lu Gonghu, he simply used "Gram Demolition". It's a short range counter "Magic" that is... well its basically just firing compressed Psions at an enemy and blowing all magic away with it. In this case not only did it blow away Lu Gonghus magic he was actively using, but also the first aid spell that kept his wound closed (the wound he got from Erikas brother). That why he started bleeding, not because Tatsuya used some obscure mind killer spell :D As for why it did look so weird and unintuitive? who knows The second interesting scene is when Tatsuya dozed off on the couch for a short time and Miyuki almost did an oopsie. Do you remember Tatsuyas ability to spot people/enemies from afar? It's called Elemental Sight. Aside from using it actively, he also uses it passively. The range is naturally limited then, but it gives him an awareness of his surroundings 24/7 wether he is sleeping or not. That does mean when he is sleeping and someone with ill-intent against him or Miyuki enters his range, he will instantly wake up. Even friends are not excluded when nearing a certain distance from Tatsuya. And well, as we saw Miyuki is excempt from this.
