I actually thought they did Usopp a little dirty in the live action. The biggest part of this scene in the anime is Usopp having the inner monologue with himself about giving up. He intended to lie there and wait for him to leave, then get up and make an excuse. He talked himself into being brave. In the live action they make the fake death into part of his plan to win. That’s a big distinction in my opinion.

100% percent agree with you dude. Anime Usopp is pretty different from the LA Usopp so far and hopefully they have feedback/time to kind of correct his character by season 2. We shall see.
