showrunners confirmed that Hachi was supposed to show up and have a big fight but they didn't have enough time and money. Definitely the biggest disappointment in terms of missing characters in the adaptation.

I was so sad Hachi wasn't in the live action. It was a bit of a shame to not have Johnny and Yosaku or to miss Jango. I didn't care we had ten seconds of Don Kreig, his henchman, and Pearl just laying on the ground, but Hachi was definitely sorely missed. Oh and I had been looking forward to seeing MoMoo but I guess they had to spend that budget on the sea king in the Shanks scene instead.

Right?! I'm hoping there is still a chance for some of them to make appearances, given that netflix introduced things really early into the live-action compared to the anime, they may flip-flop too, like early anime characters they excluded, they may shortly include for later on, especially since they should have better budgets going forward from all the positive feedback and results of season 1.
