Exploring the SCP Foundation: SCP-001 (Patreon)

I think this video is pretty representative of my channel. Most channels doing content for the SCP Foundation would make a video for each SCP-001 proposal, but I'd rather skim some details and consolidate everything into one video. Both have their merits I think, this is just the way I prefer to do it.

Absolutely loved this one. It blows my mind how so many different creative folk are able to come together and create equally compelling iterations of SCP 001. Even my least favorite example, "The Database", strikes me as appropriate the longer I dwell on it. Meta concepts usually take me out of the world of a story, but the realization that someone else unknowingly has control over your reality and is unrelentingly unleashing horrors upon you is truly terrifying. If I were to contribute to or alter SCP 001, I would make it so that all of these anomalies together formed SCP 001. Or maybe a better description would be that SCP 001 would be our reality; which would constantly be in flux, changing which of these proposals was true or false. One moment there is a giant guardian standing over the Tigris-Euphrates, the next we are in the midst of the apocalypse as the sun turns us all into one flesh heap. Sometimes they are both in existence. Until something entirely new becomes the "new" SCP 001, joining the collection of all true, yet none definitive, collection that is SCP 001.

Back when I was first into SCP, I think there were only 4 or 5 proposals. I liked the factory a lot, just because it was an interesting grimdark tale, but I think I'd probably pick the Prototype for my personal choice now. It doesn't attempt to explain all of the anomalous objects, because they are inexplicable, so SCP-001 is just the first one they reported on. Although, When Day Breaks is pretty awesome.
