This Sunday, 28 Aug will be my 39th birthday! It’s almost surreal looking back at a time when, despite having to put things on pause awhile, the production for Meatier Showers: Swole Mates kickstarted here on Patreon a year ago!

Today, with 8 full color pages already been released here, and 10 more comic pages waiting to be completed, it seems like a good opportunity to give an update on what's going to happen down the road!

Full-time Work

Realistically speaking, as much as I’d have preferred to make comics as a full time job, the niche nature of Meatier Showers and very specialized following means that surviving through Patreon alone isn’t sustainable. That said, my ongoing strategy has been to work a year or two with a full-time job, build up enough financial mileage to go back full-time into Patreon, then rinse and repeat. So far, this has worked out over the past several self-published comic productions.

Starting 19 Oct 2022, I'll be embarking on a 10-month contract working and performing full-time as puppeteer for an upcoming major movie tie-in event. The pay will be substantial enough to propel me through another Patreon project once that's done with, and it's an unusual job role that's hard to come by especially in a society that's heavily driven by paper qualifications like Singapore.

The contract will last till 28 July 2023, after which I'll be on hiatus. What's likely to happen, is that I would be pausing all Patreon billings possibly for 3-6 months to focus on building the foundational groundworks for the next Meatier Showers project without any time pressure. Once the story is solid and thumbnails ready, full-scale production will commence in 2024.

Meanwhile

Between now till Oct 2022, all my efforts have been focused on getting as much prep work done as possible. This mainly entails ensuring that as many comic pages that are still in their rough sketch states are fully inked, making it easier to coloring during my breaks between work days. If I seem quiet online, that's probably because I'm keeping my head down and busy getting things in good order.

Also, if you look above at the "Special Guest Comic" that was "in development", I'm happy to share that this collaboration with Oh Joy Sex Toy has recently been completed and slated for a 13 Dec 2022 release on their platform, so do keep a lookout when it does!
