Hi everyone!

Just wanted to thank you all for supporting Meatier Showers 2020 and being a part of this journey. I will be sending out the 12-page comic later this evening by 1 Nov (U.S. time). In the meanwhile, here's a preview on how the cover art is coming along for the Meatier Showers 10th Anniversary book!

Sketch Phase

In the original trade paperback, I had Groover and Tanz face the audience. What was just a little odd to me was that we never saw Groover in that specific bow-tie go-go dancer outfit. In fact, that was never the intended role for him, and red was never exactly supposed to be "his color". The height comparison between him & Tanz was also an illusion, and the background (and color scheme) just wasn't something I wanted to keep anymore.

Late in June this year, I set out figuring what the new crux of the cover should be, and very quickly decided it should focus on the themes of the new chapter. I also went with a side-shot to better illustrate or suggest what their relationship might be like (to viewers seeing the series for the first time).

At this point, I wasn't exactly sure what the background should entail... and went with a painfully generic full moon backdrop with... what could only be a clear evening sky?

Ink Phase 1

After dragging out the cover art for some time and having finally inked and cleaned up both characters, it was starting to bother me that the generic evening full moon background didn't just make any sense (there's no scene in the new chapter like that) but was just too plain for a 10th Anniversary cover... While there wasn't going to be literal fireworks in the background, I decided to simply return to where the new chapter takes place, and added a changing room mirror for the back half of the cover. This is just a prototype and I suspect the barcode can easily be shifted around by the publisher, but I think most of the layout if kinda "there".

Ink Phase 2

So here's the latest version of the cover art, mostly cleaned up and just awaiting colors and lighting. Filling up the characters will be relatively straightforward, but I haven't really decided what the background color scheme should be or what mood lighting to go with for now. There may be a tiny blurb on the back half of the cover so as not to cover too much of Tanz's rear reflection. I'm also considering coloring the background elements and having the line art removed, but we'll see how things go.

I hope you guys found this interesting, I'll be putting together the 12-page comic tonight and sending it out ASAP. There's been some major life updates I wanna share in another post, but for now, HAPPY HALLOWEEN, stay safe and take care!
