Feeling like you /have/ to do something always makes it harder to do!

Rest up! Glad you're taking the time you need.

MegSyv

Jenni, you are precious and perfect and just wonderful.

As we said before, we will wait. DoTL is supposed to be the work of your inner creativity happy place. So, in the words of the song, "Don't Worry, Be Happy"

I was gonna say that if it becomes work to do the comics, then you better get paid for it. Then I realized that you were getting a grand a month for it. So get back on the grindstone and earn them bucks!

MegSyv

Hahaha! Dang straight! You guys are my bosses, as far as I'm concerned! Thank you so much!

Allison Shaw

I really like the answers to reader questions, anyway :) Getting burnt out on your own work is the worst and sometimes you really do just need to work on something else for a while. Fight scenes are annoying because they take so long to draw yet don't really do too much for character development. By all means, give us some new sketches to giggle over and save your energy.

One of the best things someone told me when I started working for myself is that however long you think you need for a break should be doubled. Otherwise you're just rushing yourself.

Owen Smith

No rush! We can go archive-trawling, and question days are fun. :)

Good to have friends and patient readers Meg

I disagree with bugwar. We aren't your bosses and we're not paying you for a service. We're giving tips for an excellent product that you generously provide, for free. But even if this were a job/service scenario, which it's not, any employer who wants to attract good workers provides paid time off. Smart employers know that you need to provide support for the whole person, not just their output. Companies where the demand for talent is highest (like software, where I work), sometimes even provide unlimited paid time off. In short, please take off as much time as you like. You do not owe us anything.

True, and by the way we are PATREONS and not BOSS or SPONSOR. I dunno if it's just me, or all the french people around (or everybody), but "Patron" doesn't sounds to me like buying an item / piece of art... Being a patron sounds to me like a mix between benefactor and protector. And I shall protect your well being in order to protect the integrity of your art. I'm ready to provoque in a sword duel the clod who wants to pressurise you like a fruit ; and Beware as I am Sir Nyala and my wrath is well known within my ennemies.

You, Meg and Yoko, are most generous and very talented people sharing a wonderful, fantastically beautiful work of art with readers all over the internet, for free. You let us have part in enjoying Thistle's journey, wherever it may lead. We, your Patreons, are here to support you in your endeavor. We cannot write, draw or colour the comic for you, so we support you financially so you have more time to put into your art to share with the world. We don't pay you for our entertainment, we support you because we admire what you do. Support also means encouraging you to take care of yourselves, to rest when you are tired and to seek respite from your work when you threaten to burn out. To remind you that anything you share at all is generous and nobody has the right to demand more comics from you. To argue against you when you put unnecessary obligations on yourselves. Rest well, build your buffer without haste or stress, and return when you can do so relaxed and happy, not a minute before. Okay? Here, have an imaginary hug by whoever your favorite imaginary hugger is :-)
