I think what has made this climactic battle so difficult compared to other throwaway fights is that is it just that: the climactic battle.

Every element of your story (or story thus far) must be addressed and its importance explained in one scene. It is also its own narrative: the fight must also be a story, which is its own challenge. It requires so much planning and choreography to work with clear composition. One confusing shot or one unclear motion can undo the entire thing and you can lose the reader in a second. 

The stakes for both the characters and the author are very high.
