The perspective is always just weird.

Here's a discarded sketch for page 38. It's actually still mostly the same - the legs have just been tweaked a bit in the final version because legs+perspective = Frustrated!Meg.

No - generally because those models are pretty awful. They're stiff and inflexible, and honestly are not a good stand in for a real human form. I had another, more anatomically correct model, but it had the same problems. Photo references have always worked better for me.
