Everyone, I'd like y'all to take a look at the new colorist's final test!

You may remember from the previous post that I had mentioned I was waiting for one test (the one in the bottom left corner of the preview image of that post) to come back before making any sort of decision. Here is that test!

It was a very difficult decision, as it ultimately came down to this one and one other in the group, but after consulting several people, including the editor, a coworker with some experience in comics, and the husbando, a decision was reached!

DotL's new temporary Colorist is Julianna Chianelli!

Here's a link to her portfolio site, where you can see more of her work, and her Twitter, so you can start giving her the attention she so justly deserves.
I was struck by Julianna's unified color palette and how the characters looked like they were really a part of the environment, and her general rendering of shading and light, and some of her comments about the process impressed upon me that she already has the mentality of a colorist, in the way she focused on creating a believable place with atmosphere and mood.

I am keeping everyone's information who applied and completed tests because, dangit, they're all really good and this entire experience has taught me that I need to work collaboratively in order to really get anything done, so that's another thing off my mind.

As far as backend stuff is going: I have handed off 3 pages for Julianna to get to work on! Our return date is still at the end of the month, so we'll be taking this remaining time to get her oriented, and for me to get a solid buffer going.

When the comic returns, we'll be updating with one new comic page a week on Tuesdays, with Filler art on Thursdays to start, and then as we get more comfortable, will eventually return to Tues/Thurs updates.

Guys, thank you all very much for sticking with me while I navigate this bumpy bit of telling this story. I'm mentally doing SO MUCH BETTER, and finally excited and motivated to move things forward again!

Welcome to Julianna! I was hoping she would be the choice, and happy you asked for that other test (I'm no artist but I liked the colour composition a lot). Very good job at navigating this situation Meg!
