I am very very very very very tired and frustrated, so I'm gonna cheer myself up by telling you about THE SECRET THING I'VE BEEN WORKIN ON:

In a shocking twist: BOOK ONE ISN'T ACTUALLY OVER. Yeah, you thought I wasn't makin' comics? There is a 13 page Epilogue I've been working on since the conclusion of Chapter 7, which will start being published at the start of next week!! I've been looking forward to surprising everyone!

THIS PAST WEEK:

Working on the Epilogue has been made extraordinarily difficult because of the demands of this full time job I currently have, which, if I'm being honest, are very unfair and, in places, unreasonable.

This past week was supposed to be my last week on this job, and this week was supposed to be the start of my break to work full time on the comic before the next gig I've been hired to do. However, due to poor management, I've been asked to stay an additional two weeks to hit already missed deadlines and manage the remaining workload. This is the first of those two weeks, which I have agreed to out of a sense of obligation, but I have decided this new end date (the fourth one they've given me) is the final one. The emotional exhaustion and mental strain is just not worth it. I have very little left to give to this project, anyway, and I need to rest. I'm pretty confident at this point that because of how long I have stayed on, I will not be burning any bridges or causing irreparable harm to any professional relationships I've made during my time here, which is one reason why I said yes to so many extensions.

That being said, I am tired, and it's starting to show. My body is beginning to rebel. I am sleeping longer each night and I cannot seem to gather the mental fortitude to do much of anything when I get home from work. I'm trying to listen to what my body and brain is telling me, but it's difficult when I think of the ambitions I have for this project and this surprise Epilogue.

All that in mind, I am doing one big crazy push right now: I rested all that I could this past weekend, and spent much of Sunday night (and early Monday morning) really chugging through some inks. I'm pretty sure I have just enough left in me to finish out the work at this dayjob and get ahead in comic work so that I can finally, totally, completely rest for a couple days after I'm done, before I can throw myself into comic-making full time.

Y'all are lovely, precious people, so I want to get ahead of the game and promise that I'll be careful not to overextend myself and take the time to rest if I need to. But mainly I want to keep the story going and not lose the momentum I had working on Book 1, too. Thank you all so very much for your patience, especially during my patches of radio silence.

SO! This week on the website, I'll be posting TWO more pieces of Fanart, and then the next week will be the start of this fancy new Epilogue. I wonder what will be in it???

BOOK 1 KICKSTARTER:

Chapters 4 and 5 are formatted and ready for color correction! Chapter 3 has been sent off for formatting! A huge batch of pages from Chapter 7 has been sent to Yoko to color correct! Chapters 1 and 2 are so short that I'll be taking care of those, and they shouldn't take any time at all! Things are moving along!

I am honestly very happy that the gave Meg the habit to reassure us she will take care of herself instead of apologizing profusely for missed updates. :) Also, that project sounds kind of awful, I hope your next one will be better!

Renee

What a twist! Thanks for all your hard work. Don't let the daily grind get you down

Boo for mismanaged projects! Hooray for Epilogues! I appreciate all your hard work, even the work that isn't going directly to the comic or your art, which I very much enjoy. Don't be afraid to take some self care time if you need it, please!
