** ROUND 2 **

These were the top two choices from the previous poll, so let us know which one you'd love us to react to next!

Comments

Oliver

S&P will love inception

HDN

Big 90's movies fan (Nicolas Cage, John Travolta, Bruce Willis, etc.) although i'm only 25 years old. Now I'm basically taking the opportunity to watch every single "new" movie I have never watched and would probably never watch on my own.

TheRoguePrince19

Inception would make more sense since y’all just did Interstellar and it’s another nolan film that’s arguably as good As Interstellar.

imperial

Let’s watch their minds get blown one more time with Inception! Before we jump into a month of light hearted pirate adventures with Captain Jack Sparrow.

Jonathan Arevalo

Inception! We need more Nolan films on this channel

Paul

Inception is a phenomenal movie, but the pirates trilogy is pure chaotic fun, which I think is a necessary palate cleanser between Nolan masterpieces.

Katie Donahue

when it comes to movie series i’m the biggest harry potter and lord of the rings nerd but i never really cared for pirates.. inception though is such a masterpiece of a film and it’s right up there with interstellar.. it doesn’t hit hard emotionally but the writing and story-telling is absolutely insane and just inception and interstellar alone made christopher nolan my favorite director

Steven Enderley

2 great choices but im going with Inception since its just a singular movie

Sara O

Inception is solo movie…yall should watch that first and THEN dive into pirates! Also again it’s one of the best movies ever

Alex Ocean

Man I love inception as a cinematic masterpiece but I know you guys would have fun with Pirates of the Caribbean!

SuddenImpulse

People will disagree which is 100% valid, personal opinion, but Nolan is my 2nd favorite director and I also quite like Inception but I have to agree. I want them to see all the great nolan films but I feel like they will be less impactful if they are watched back to back, Nolan has a particular kinda of style and sometimes focuses on similar topics or themes so things can start to blur together or the mind-bending elements or whatever else might not be as impactful. This is my mentality in general though, not just with Nolan. I wouldn't have them watch Interstellar and Martian back to back, or PotC & Black Sails back to back, so forth. I think its good to mix in different genres, directors, etc. between films for mental and creative variety for the reactors (to help maximize their reaction quality) and also for the subscribers. You can only react to something the first time once after all.

Paul

For sure! I like to think of it was having a main course dinner, a Nolan film, and then delicious dessert after, the pirates trilogy. Lots of dessert true, but who doesn't want an entire strawberry pie to themselves?

Christopher

lol I have no preference but that’s what was said for Pirates against Interstellar, it’ll be a never ending cycle of solo movies where “it’s only one movie” will be the argument. I think they should just do polls with solo movies for a month then do trilogies/series in a poll as the next month and just keep rotating.

Steven Enderley

The good thing though is that inception and interstellar are 2 totally different Nolan movies so I don't think it would be that bad for S&P to watch them back to back but I agree 100% with your take on if they went from Interstellar to The Martian wouldn't hit as much as it should

SuddenImpulse

Folks please keep in mind there is no guarantee the 2nd place winner will be watched next. While there is a good chance given how the last poll went, upsets happen often, the community demographics change frequently, as does the amount of total eligible voters that actually vote in each poll (about 1/4th to 1/3rd of all eligible voters actually vote in these polls most times). Historically we have just done another poll with the list. Please vote based on what YOU want to watch and not based on what you think will be next etc.

SuddenImpulse

Yeah I agree Inception is not a bad option in this context. Honestly I'd pick it gladly if I wasn't waiting for the last year for Pirates haha. Everyone has their preferences. The great thing is we should be able to get through that entire list and much more in time.

Steven Enderley

I'm sorry you been waiting so long for Pirates lol I don't blame you though, the first 3 are great movies. 100% getting my vote on the next poll if it's a choice.

SuddenImpulse

Nah its all good. Just part of it. Appreciate it though =) I've had plenty of things I love get watched too. I'm sure many people here have been waiting awhile for a number of things. =) Also...they never made more than 3 idk what you are on about friend :P

SuddenImpulse

I love both movies so I win either way honestly. I have just seen people assume the 2nd place will win next time before, and then be sad/upset when that doesn't happen, so I just wanted to remind people they should vote for what they want now, instead of trying to be strategic about it. If that means they want to vote Inception, they should!

Anonymous

I can see that point of view. But, I personally watched the prestige shortly after interstellar and it was some very good tucker indeed.

imperial

1 hour in and it’s a 50/50 split. This is one of the most exciting polls ever. Either way it’s a win. (But let’s go Inception!)

SuddenImpulse

@Christopher this is something we've been discussing, or otherwise just keeping movie series to their own poll. =) (May or may not happen)

Anonymous

Honestly, will be watching uncut regardless which one wins

Simon

Omg this is too hard. Idk what to choose... They're both really good options

David J

Might as well do inception first because it’s only a singular film and we wont have to wait possibly another 3 weeks for it.

Pablo

You will probably have more fun with pirates honestly. I think it would be funny since spartan is all about honor and these movies are like the oposite of that.

A.D

People who voted interstellar last time said watch Interstellar then pirates because its a singular film, now they're saying the same with inception, just watch Pirates - way more fun

David

Inception was cool when it first came out because of the new technology used to film it. But that technology is now old and the plot is just OK if you don't think too much about it and realize all the holes in it. Without the gimmick of the new style of cinematography I just don't understand why anyone would want to watch it let alone watch it a second time. On the other hand, I have always enjoyed watching the Pirates trilogy since it has great characters, dialog, plot, cinematography and a timeless musical score. It is one of the most rewatchable trilogies ever. I don't count the rest of the movies after the third one, I mean who does. I admit that I did like Inception when it first came out but after watching it a second time just a few years later I felt that it really didn't hold up. I realize this is an unpopular opinion in this community but I can't be the only one who feels this way.

SuddenImpulse

Yes this is part of why we are discussing (no confirmation) having poll lists be only single films or series films so that they are all on even footing, because people use this reasoning repeatedly to the point that there wouldn't be any movie series if it was widespread enough lol. That reasoning doesn't work out when you use it every poll.

Petteri Ahlberg

I’d prefer Inception but i think it’s only fair to go with the Pirates this time round 👌🏻 - That being said, my only small gripe is that it’s 3 films against one. Would you guys consider watching Inception (or something else) between the Pirate movies ?

Natalie-Anne

Voted inception but happy with pirates as it was my childhood movies 😍

Corey Nixon

Whens the next episode of Stranger things is it 1 a week, or more?

Jamiefishing7

Honestly shocked Braveheart wasn’t higher in the poll. It’s an older movie so a lot of people probably haven’t seen it. It’s an absolute masterpiece. Also being Scottish helps. Most of us scots would put it in our top 5 films of all time. They have played it at the football matches before the national team came out for inspiration and motivation for the crowd.

Petteri Ahlberg

Agreed. Great film and a must-see for sure, but suprised to hear it’s so beloved in Scotland. I would have thought that the insane amounts of historical inaccuracies would piss people off 😂😅

Dasypodidae

A hybrid solution is to include only single films of series films in the polls alongside standalone single films. So if pirates 1 wins for example. Pirates 2 needs to fight for its place again in a new poll. This gives more variation and not all series need to be finished cause not all sequels are that great.

Jamiefishing7

I think the theme and the overall story of what happened is enough for people to like it. Also I think some people don’t know about the inaccuracies or like me I was young enough not to realise about them until later in life and by that point they don’t bother me as much because I have already loved the movie for years and find it hard to unlove it for that. They probably did overall make it better and most of the important parts are still accurate or accurate enough.

Rosie Mon47

I voted for braveheart, and feel the same as you - hopefully they occasionally watch movies that arent by popular demand

Oliver

I think u are the only one who thinks that way. You the type of guy to say riverdale is your favourite show😃

Len

you could suggest doing polls for non-serie films, seen multiple reactors do it like that

Pablo

Of course. Like every good 15 year old filmbro, it was my favorite movie back in highschool. Are you gonna tell me that incepcion somehow is more fun than pirates? Cause it is not

Pablo

Finally someone says it like it is. You are not the only one who thinks that, i believe you are right and incepcion is just an overhyped mess of a movie.

Pablo

Thank GOD! pirates is winning

Anonymous

Inception a mess? That's...an opinion I guess. I find it a meticulously crafted masterpiece that works beautifully as a straight up action thriller but if you dig deeper it's an incredible exploration of inspiration, originality and the creative process. One of my favorite movies of all time. Pirates is fun though - great popcorn movie (at least the first couple).

Steven Enderley

Looks like your wish is coming true sudden lol the poll swung the other way big time and ohh right I forgot they only made 3 ;)

Becca

Inception is not a good watch along movie or for reactions. It takes too much thinking and concentration. Hey, have you guys ever watched Super 8? It’s a good reaction flick that is also a great fun film.

Shellbot

Nah personally glad. The historical inaccuracies are shocking lol also the accents. Some are good and some are god awful.

Jasper

Inception takes much thinking? It is not that difficult lol

Jamiefishing7

Each to their own, but I am scottish and everyone I know loves Braveheart. We even used to have a themepark with a ride called Braveheart/The Wallace Sword. Also when they eventually do get round to watching it they’ll get to see Jeor Mormont again from game of thrones and it would be great to see their reaction to that too.

SuddenImpulse

Yes, no hate here but I am a bit puzzled about what you have to think about with Inception. It quite LITERALLY spoonfeeds you every bit of information that's important to know, except maybe one or two things that have tons of context clues.

chaddytwiceover

Why is Pirates winning lol wtf

SuddenImpulse

That can happen with one of the most popular movie series of the last 20 years. *shrug*

SuddenImpulse

@Dasypodidae No other reaction channels to my knowledge do that, at least not sizeable ones, and with respect, I see this creating even more problems that the current setup, because if they don't win in the polls successively its going to massively impact their reactions and viewership (which is important since they do this full time for a living) negatively when there's sizeable gaps between films that are meant to be one continuous story. The Pirates Trilogy was planned and designed as a 3 movie story that (essentially anyways) wraps up. If people know there is a chance they might not watch the second or third film, or have to wait a good while to do so, a lot of people simply will not watch their reaction to the first film that otherwise would. Some people are voting for series because they want to watch the entire series, and if each movie has to deal with a vote, then people that subscribed to patreon for that movie series...they might have to resubscribe later or cancel their subscription at one point because the suddenly have to wait 2 weeks or a month or whatever for the next in the series, and patreon subscriptions are on a 30 day cycle. So I don't think people will be pleased having to effectively pay double and wait twice as long for reactions to a series when singular films never have to deal with that. If enough of the community is interested in a movie series for it to win two or three polls (which is whats always the case due to slimming them down for revoting) then I think its very justified that its done consecutively since thats how it was labeled on the poll. Basically, this way of going about it is likely to lose Spartan & Pudgey significant viewership potential and a not insignificant number of lost subscribers, its not likely worth the risk to appease whats effectively going to be a smaller portion of the overall community that doesn't like when movie series win polls as a bundle due to having to wait longer for another poll with what they are interested in. I think the polls are pretty fair, everyone gets ample time to vote and lots of options are given, and 2nd or 3rd polls are done to ensure the results are as accurate to what the community here wants overall, as possible. Yes not everyone eligible votes, that happens often, but we can't really do much about that. We try to notify people multiple times/ways that polls are up. We will probably just have movies that are a series in their own polls and singular films in their own polls, so everything is on an even footing with each other and the options have similar length/time commitment, which may also help S&P for planning and scheduling workload and future things to tackle as well.

Josh

By that logic we should get them to watch all thirty seven Furious movies simply because the masses are easily entertained. Maybe Spartan and Pudgey could create their own reaction Letterboxd to give people an idea into what they have watched and how they enjoyed them.

SuddenImpulse

You seem upset lol. No that is not logic that's in fact a logical fallacy. They talk about what they like and have enjoyed quite frequently in youtube livestreams, in the discord, in moderator chat, and in pre and post discussions for reactions they are doing to shows. I can forward the LetterBox'd idea to them, but realistically idk how much of the community would actually bother referencing it or even know about it if they did so.

ShanB

I think you might mean to say you’re thinking they wouldn’t have space for as much discussion during the movie with all the info they’d need to pay attention to. If so I can get that take but there’s moments in the movie they’d have time to say quick thoughts. Also they pause the movie/show for the longer comments they may have.

Anonymous

i would love for them to watch black mirror or American psycho :0

David

Braveheart is definitely right up Spartans alley.

David

Oliver is the type of guy who makes knee jerk assumptions about people he disagrees with. Is anyone who likes Imception not a troll and/or a hater. By the way I had never even heard of the show "riverdale" until I read your ignorent comment. I love disagreement but please disagree with the content and don't insult the person. I am not offended by someone saying that I said something stupid and then explaining why it's stupid because I say stupid things all the time, and so do most people if we are being honest. However, I do take offense when someone calls me stupid or "You the type" and goes on to say something completely untrue.

David

I like Pirate better than Inception but if you want to argue that Inception is better then I disagree but everyone has their own opinion and that is a valid argument but if you're saying they should watch it next because it is only one movie, then by that same logic would vote for them to watch "Howard The Duck" over "STAR WARS"? Also by that logic they never would have watched LOTR.

David

Because people like it more than Inception. Or was that a rhetorical question?

Alex

The masses also believe inception is a better movie with superior writing to The Prestige. All of Nolan’s movies with his brother writing them are for the most part better.

Alex

Sounds like a good idea. Every so often have a poll help us pick a film series. And more often have polls on singular movies. I like it.

PastaDon

Hey, comment section for the poll is open.. where's my popcorn!! Oh, there it is🍿😁

SuddenImpulse

Everyone, please show some basic respect to each other. You can absolutely disagree and discuss on here, but lets try to not make barbed statements or trade insults. Everyone has different tastes and preferences, if they aren't shared by you that doesn't mean they are invalid. If it becomes enough of an ongoing issue that people don't want to engage here that otherwise would, we will simply disable comments on the polls, which some patreon pages do, but we really value open dialogue here so we don't want to go that route. Everyone here is a customer and everyone here enjoys S&P's content. The other options on these poll lists aren't going anywhere, the plan is to visit them all eventually. Everyone is going to lose one of these polls at some point, no matter how undeserved they feel it might be. It is the nature of the thing. There are people here that voted for something else and aren't interested in either of these two choices. Look on the bright side that you are interested in a reaction to one of the two major frontrunners of that big poll with so many options. Some of the folks will be waiting longer than the Inception/PotC folks for their content.

SuddenImpulse

@Jamiefishing7 Shellbot is Scottish and lives in Scotland. Just goes to show you everyone is different on these things. =)

Sara O

You’re talking about a hypothetical situation…I’m talking about what’s in front of me…inception and pirates. Also I can see the comparison between Star Wars and and pirates but…Howard the duck and INCEPTION??? You’ve unfortunately lost me there in your argument.

Sara O

But again…my point still stands…I think they can watch inception now and pirates after, but that is just my OWN OPINION! I’ll support them in whatever they choose like it’s really not that serious. Also I’m a fan of Nolan movies and I would love to have them continue watching his work since they’ve started to already. But again…it’s not that serious

Sara O

@christopher I also agree with your point to maybe doing solo vs solo movies and trilogy vs trilogy…I feel like that’ll solve a lot of the common disagreements lol

Katie Donahue

wait inception is losing ㅠㅠ guess we’ll have to wait for you guys to react to that one next time 🥲

Jamiefishing7

100%. Would be first scottish person I’ve heard that doesn’t like it. The message of the film is very strong in favour of scotland, but I do get that regardless not every single person is gonna like something.

Jonny Rey

Nikki and Steven do it this way all the time actually and they have over 356k subscribers. For example they just finished all of the Daniel Craig Bond films which they watched in a row, but the only reason they watched them all consecutively is because the Bond films continuously beat the other movies in their polls each week, but they DID offer the option for other films each week. That’s how they gauge whether or not their audience wants them to continue with a series after they’ve started it. On the other hand when they wanted to burn through the Maze Runner trilogy, it actually ended up taking them a couple weeks bc after the first movie won the poll, the sequel couldn’t beat any of the other movies on their list for a few weeks after. Same thing with when they watched all of the Mission Impossible movies, they only did them consecutively because they won the polls consecutively. They always plan on finishing the series they just realize it doesn’t always make the most sense with viewership to put those movie weeks back to back to back to back and lose a decent portion of your fan base for an entire month when you can keep all sides engaged by dicing up the big series like that and reacting to them intermittently.

David

So when do we get to bust out the rum and enjoy some Pirates reactions?
