This is probably my favorite episode in the show so far. I haven't watched your intro yet so I don't know if you were expecting it, but at the time, it just came out of nowhere. No one was expecting a random, massive battle in ep 8. Brilliant shit.

Anonymous

The white walker attack at hardhome was a big surprise/shock to everyone when it aired? not sure why you're laughing at them not predicting it lol

SuddenImpulse

We work really hard to minimize their knowledge of episodes ahead of time. HBO made it difficult with this episode at the preview tile for ep8 is a WhiteWalker...but I emphasized that they do not look at any preview tiles as they can be spoilery, and despite many spoilery comments on the 3 platforms regarding this episode all the way back when they were watching season 2, we deleted all those and somehow managed to keep them from knowing lol.

Seán

Very weird comment as no-one expects a white walker attack. If anything it would be the NW vs Freefolk

Julien

Wow. Excellent job! 🙏 Yeah I forgot about the thumbnail. Sometimes, marketing trumps all. They wanted viewers to know that there'd be some WW action, for the first time in two seasons I think.

kallista

the ones that were going after bran were the same ones that the white walkers, the more intelligent ones as pudgey said that seem to be made of ice, raise from the dead to fight in their army.

kallista

also ramsay saying to “leave a feast for the crows” is a nod to the 4th book in the book series which is called “a feast for crows.” just finished a reread of it!

HOW DARE YOU FEEL BAD FOR CERSEI WTF ARE YOU ON PUDGE?? 😂 do you not remember ALL the shit she did?

Anonymous

Pudgey & Spartan, thank you so much for considering this, letting this episode out earlier than planned. It means you guys listened to complaints and are not dull about it. You really care for us. I can now wait a week after this episode being out.. Sorry for the stress I caused, and behalf of the complainers. But this episode was what I wanted to see you guys react since you started this season.. Thank you so much! Enjoy the rest of the vaca!

Julien

Lmfaoo @ Jenny. I said from the beginning that the whole "we PAID you, it's A LOT of money, GIVE US UPLOADZ" was really just a childish tantrum about anticipating this particular episode. People were just pissed because they had to wait a few more days for Hardhome. None of this clownery over a single less episode for ONE week made any sense otherwise. The whole thing was ridiculous and embarrassing. Left a genuinely bitter taste in my mouth about this "community." But whatever. Worry not Mods, I'm done w this topic.

Anonymous

This is on me. I don’t speak for everyone else who complained for other reasons, which also has merits. I complained because I wanted to have this episode out before the vaca. Only me. I can’t speak for everyone else. And I clarified that I didn’t mind the wait, I’m just letting them know I’m disappointed about it.

Julien

Well good on you for your honesty and apology to them. That's very rare on the internet! I maintain that your sentiment was shared by many others, who will never show the contrition you just did. It is what it is.

SuddenImpulse

I can assure you they don't change their content schedule plans because of some complaints, because there are always complaints no matter what. If they started doing these things solely due to a handful of complaints then people would just complain in the hopes they will bend and do more of X or earlier for X which is a bad precedent to set and not a conducive way to get ones point across in hopes for a change in how things operate.

Jenny Tolls

Yeah they normally upload on Mondays anyways. I don’t think it’s right to give them crap about one episode, especially when they said they’d be releasing it while on break. I’m not tryna start anything because I’m done with it but all I’m saying is let’s be patient with them. They have a really good community and they’re really good people so I just don’t like seeing them get piled up on is all. I’m sure we’ll all forget about this in a week lol.

Alex

we can talk about the problems of this season when you guys finish it I don't wanna spoil anything. Just as a whole seasons 1-4 are better doesn't mean 5 is bad. When people say it falls off after season 4 don't think its very drastic at all just enjoy and watch the show how you've been. First time watching the show is amazing.

Anonymous

@SuddenImpulse030 And I understand completely and agree with you. That's why I was surprised that they let this episode out earlier than planned. And hopefully not because we complained, but because they're like us who understand what it means to be a fan, and kind of like gave a good gesture. Unlike Blindwave who can't yield more episodes of Naruto instead of once a week, completely ignoring the majority of fan's request.

Anonymous

@Jenny Tolls. I understand. And I apologize if it felt that way. All I know is that I wanted to share my displeasure. I still love these guys. They're the most entertaining genuine reactors in my opinion, and I want nothing but the best for them.

It's easy to feel empathy for Cersei when you realize that everyone in show suffers from PTSD to some degree. Theon is evident...some aren't as much.

Anonymous

I don't understand why anyone would have empathy for cersei; shitty towards everyone, selfish, screwed ned, screwed tyrion, screwed jamie, would rather feed the pigs than feed the people of kings landing, killed robert, jealous of margery and chose to pick a fight out of nowhere, liar, no honor whatsover... but she loves her bastard children? I mean come on.

Joshua Sutton

Lol Really Ned dying even though you could see the downfall, Then the Red Wedding Even though Robb did break an oath, And who takes oaths, promises & contracts seriously in today's world, which is most likely why people found it hard to accept. Then Oberyn, which I suppose you could say he was overconfident and blinded by revenge. But the point I am making is Nothing goes to plan from what we have seen in the past in the show

Tyrion: “You agreed to marry someone you loathe for the greater good. Very impressive.” This is could also be said about Sansa.

Julien

Sansa didn't marry Ramsey for "the greater good" lmaoo. And women, even noble women, even powerfully noble women like Cersei or Catelyn, often have little choice in the matter. In contrast, ruling Queens like Dany can do as they like - even so, within certain limits (no commoner! Etc). That's what make makes her choice admirable.

Munir

More like the night is dark and full of grammatical errors...

Jenny Tolls

Pudgey is so damn intuitive man. She caught on with that scene with Ollie really well. I didn't catch that my first time watching that scene.

ser twenty of house good men

Sansa was mostly forced, especially because she was being hunted by Cersei and was being manipulated by Little Finger, but she did have a moment of choice in Season 5, Episode 3: Sansa: “No, you can't make me. l will starve myself. l will die before l haνe to go there.” Little Finger: “l won't force you to do anything…. Say the word and we turn the horses around, but listen to me. Listen…. Stop being a bystander. Do you hear me? Stop running. There's no justice in the world. Not unless we make it. You loνed your family. Aνenge them.” So I do feel it’s accurate to say Sansa “agreed to marry someone [she] loathe[s] for the greater good. Very impressive.” I think Tyrion would be impressed that Sansa’s going all-in playing the game. That said, I do see your point that women didn’t have much choice, and I’ll even admit that it was Dany’s idea (this time) to get engaged to someone she doesn’t like for the greater good, whereas Sansa reluctantly agrees (under great duress) to the idea. What Sansa did took a special level of bravery, though, because she’s marrying into a family who murdered hers; but as queen, Dany expects to have all the power when she marries that head of an ancient and noble house. (I adore both Sansa and Dany and admire their intelligence and strength, so this is in no way meant to disrespect Dany or belittle her sacrifices.)

Yes to everything you said, and I liked your post. For me, the empathy comes with watching torture methods being used on her—and she hasn’t even had a trial yet, she’s merely accused. We the audience know she’s guilty of what she’s been accused of doing, but this isn’t (to me) true justice, it’s just inhumane cruelty—and that’s just hard to watch without flinching. I suppose that this is another prime example of modern eyes struggling to be ok with what was everyday practice in mid-evil times.

RP10

These next couple episodes, and next couple seasons are so damn good. I'm pumped

Victoria E (vickster5001)

Sure, the red wedding was an iconic moment of TV, but for me, it was this one which really made you see the ridiculous scale of ambition of this series.this hardhome sequence was cinema worthy and it was an episode of television. It absolutely raised the bar for TV with this one.
