I loved how they did Bill and Frank, and enjoyed the genius narrative tactic they used on Bill's introduction (they could have shown an unfriendly paranoid survivalist in a stereotypical way but instead they showed someone who was thriving and a pro in this situation - so they showed him in a positive light). This ep, for me, was pure narrative gold, and really hit home the idea that this story is about people, the human condition, and Joel needed that letter to really commit to his task. Brilliant.

Not gonna lie, I was really disappointed at first. That kiss came out of nowhere never mind the rest lol. I am not a fan of this whole woke trend thats going on and this is usually the point when I check out of a series. I would like to state that I have absolutely no problem with gay people I just dont think its necessary to inject people's sexuality to everywhere if the story isnt about that. Its usually done in such a forced and preaching way that it ruins the whole experience. But not this one...this was very nicely done. In this episode the focus was on the story of these characters who happened to be gay. It was a beautiful lovestory done very tastefully with excellent acting. This should be the prime example of how it's done, I really enjoyed it and couldn't care less whether they were straight or gay. Even days after when I was just so happy to see a story like theirs so nicely done and coming to the conclusion that so far this is my favorite episode.

We are fully with you on this entire comment! It was executed really well in this episode and it didn't feel like it detracted from the episode.

My own nitpick with your opinion (which I 100% respect, of course) is that, for some reason, people who say that are "anti-woke" or whatever, usually only demand that stories with homosexuals or women in power or other "woke stuff" (which to me are just basic human stuff) are portrayed well. Those have to be really well written and well acted and have to be top notch quality, otherwise it's just propaganda, right? But if it's a hetero love story put in the middle of nowhere, badly written and badly portrayed, it's just bad, not propaganda. On the other hand, if there's even a kiss between two guys or two girls just because...hell breaks loose. Why can't we just like or dislike something without always thinking there's some big conspiracy behind it? My take is that storytellers should tell whatever story they want, and let's not forget that not that long ago they couldn't tell stories that are considered "woke" today, because those stories were rarely funded and they wouldn't get the budget and the production teams they needed. Now, society progressed to be more acceptive of other peoples choices, in general but specially in media and I, personally think that's for the best. Not only in a human rights perspective, but also because it gives more freedom to creators. All art forms are an expression of its creators, they should be free to have the opportunity to tell whatever story they want.

I feel that it must be pointed out though that the series didn't inject their sexuality in - Bill and Frank had been an item in the game, too (and even if someone would interpret their relationship differently, Bill's sexuality at least is very heavily implied by something).

I’m also loving this show and don’t know anything about the game. What a great episode, totally didn’t expect to get so emotional.

The kiss didn't come out of nowhere tho. There were subtle hints, but they were there, you just missed them. Also they have probably both been away from others and relationship for a long while now (especially for Bill), so it's logical that a bond would form quickly, humans are social creatures after all. Finally, I guess Franck just went for it. Bill might've rejected it if he wasn't into that, but at least he tried. So yeah Although yes it arrived quickly, it wasn't "out of nowhere". (I'm guessing if one of them had been a girl, no one would be saying the kiss is "out of nowhere"). PS : I just wanna point out about that part : "I just dont think its necessary to inject people's sexuality to everywhere if the story isnt about that". The creators and scenarists of the game (and therefore show) have always said that it is a story about love, about humans, and that is also why the game is so narratively acclaimed. It might be with an apocalyptic setting and background, but the base is human relationships, so honestly this story felt very on brand with the themes.

She going to get a different kind of infection with those hella expired tampons

Stannis the Mannis

America has a lot of “paranoid” guys like Bill

Rey Jr

Loved the reaction. I did not expect this episode to get this emotional

The kiss gave me whiplash lol. I’ve watched too much Walking Dead, I was expecting Frank to pull some shit at first. Lovely episode. I’ve never heard of Murray Bartlett (guy who played Frank) and he was phenomenal.

Sometimes I'm not really able to get my point across the way I want to due to English not being my native language and for that, I apologize. A few very good points in the comments so here are my thoughts. I wouldn't consider myself anti-woke, I just don't like the way they go about it most of the time. I judge people on their actions not on their sexuality, in fact, I couldn't care less whether they are straight or not, it's really not my business. I am not a fan of loves stories at all so if there are any I really hope they are exceptional whether they are hetero or not but this one was very nicely done, well written, and superbly acted. I am cautious because I've seen soo many extremely high-budget productions going down the woke drain shows and movies alike. ( Picard, ST Discovery, the clusterfuck that the SW sequels were ). I really don't have any issues with women in power as long as the character has depth and an arc (the same goes for any male characters). I could fanboy for days over female leads that were interesting and badass and nobody cared that they happened to be ladies because their character was interesting and they brought it to life with skill and passion. Ripley ( Alien ), Sarah Connor (Terminator), Leia (Star Wars), Starbuck ( BSG ), Mia Wallace (Pulp Fiction ), Jackie Brown, Jane Brenner ( Wind River ), Cersei (GoT) etc.. In comparison Rey in the Star Wars sequels had no arc, was perfect at everything from beginning to end and her main character trait was the fact that she was female. I really feel sorry for Daisy because she is a talented actress and did what she could with a script as bad as that was and a character as shallow as Rey. My preference is a good, compelling story and characters with depth. Andor was great in that regard, random side characters had better dialogues written than leads in other SW projects. I have no problem with any of the characters being gay, for all I care they can all be gays or lesbians as long as they are not written that way to push the agenda. In this episode, their sexuality served the story and that is how always supposed to be, anybody who has any problem with that is not worth talking to because their opinion is coming from a bad place with bad intentions and possibly hatred. Also, I did not play the games so I have zero knowledge about the universe or its characters. My opinion is based on the show and only the show. When the game comes out for PC I will definitely play it though.
