Really hope you also would consider The Pacific. Its made by the same people who made Band of Brothers. It details the Pacific side of the war with an episode based in Melbourne ;) :D (It might be even more haunting than this story)

Webster was the one who gave the little boy chocolate in Ep 4, and then got wounded in Ep 5. Also, the reason Lieutenant Jones had the title but no experience was because as a college kid who went to the Military academy he automatically became an officer, basically he was the same as Winters and Nixon in Ep 1. The main difference is they had a whole year plus of training with the same soldiers, vs Jones who had a rushed boot camp and then immediately deployed to a warzone

really recommend watching the We Stand Alone Together documentary after you've watched this series, its all the interviews with the men from easy company

Spartan, you asked how Jones was already so high up. In the US, when you graduate from a military academy like he did (West Point is the Army academy), you come out as an officer. You have the rank, but in this case no experience. P.S. - that's Tom Hank's son.

That line, and the next one "can you believe I said that" is my Dad's favorite moment in the whole series. He's seen it 20 times and that one he always laughs when it comes on
