My first time watch. I've always wanted to know why everyone seems to praise this movie as one of the greatest comedies of all time. Today is the day I finally get to see if it's true! I do know that RDJ was nominated for Best Supporting Actor that year, which is HUGE praise especially for a comedy (he only lost to Heath Ledger's Joker in Dark Knight which is tough to beat). Let's do this!

I know that a lot of people don't realize who's playing Les Grossman until the end, but I've never seen anyone not realize who is playing Lincon Osiris. That's hilarious.

- For me the darker or the lighter background is fine either way. If you feel more cinematic with the darker one, I say go for it! - Yeah, some epic quotes in this movie: "never go full retard" "what do you mean "you people"?" "suck my unit" - Ok, now it has become a challenge to find a comedy that suits Spartan's taste 🤔 I'm not really familiar with Bill Burr. Since Pudgey was able to notice and point out some more clever jokes, or funny things in the background, her sense of humor is probably closer to mine (Naked Gun, Fly High). Spartan's type of humor is harder to guess, but you can't go wrong with movies like Dumb&Dumber. So my recommendations are still: Dumb&Dumber Ace Ventura Hot Shots Naked Gun Flying High Even though, unfortunately, the version of this movie (Tropic Thunder) that I watched was very different than yours (my version had more stuff, but I don't think it was the unedited version either), I still had fun watching it with you. Looking forward to the next comedy 👍🏻 Hugh Jackman = best Batman

100% I knew this would not be a good fit for this channel. I try to recommend shows that I am confident will be a good fit with a given reactor, regardless of what I might think about the show. Knives Out would have been the stronger choice for this channel. IMHO.

Jim Carey definitely does NOT strike me as Spartans kind of comedic actor. I think you’re still thinking full Pudgey on that one. I got the vibe this reaction that he doesn’t enjoy what’s known as “stupid humor” but Pudgey does. Women always seem to love wildly expressive oddball men in comedy a lot more than other men do. Like Jack Black. Can’t even tell you how many girls I went to high school with that thought he was the funniest actor alive back in the 2010s.

Might still be a little off but if he enjoys Bill Burr maybe he’d like some Adam Sandler movies. He has that brand of sarcastic, off-the-cuff insulting that Spartan might like. Or something like Wedding Crashers with a little more of an actual story to grasp onto.

Not sure how you arrived at the conclusion that it wasn't a good fit. Sure, some things didn't hit (particularly for Spartan) but they were consistently laughing throughout and said multiple times in the recap that they enjoyed it. Whether Glass Onion would have been more up their alley is a different discussion.

There are plenty of irreverent comedies out there from the last few years. Great comedy still exists. You can still be raunchy, racy and ridiculous however the major change nowadays is punching down for the sake of punching down has become taboo in a lot of ways. You can still joke about race, gender, sexual orientation, test limits & play with stereotypes if the true intent is to make people laugh. What has become unacceptable in many ways is when those topics are used to further beat down the marginalized. When you see someone like Bill Burr, Shane Gilles or Jim Jeffries do their routine they actively test the limits and say things that otherwise would be problematic but when they do it, it is clear it comes from a place entertainment not malice. A lot of the cry baby comedians who feel like comedy is being policed often are saying stuff that isn't funny, they are punching down & are trying to hide bigotry thinly disguised as comedy. A few months ago The Roast of Tom Brady demonstrated the brand of comedy declared as murdered by PC culture in fact is alive & well. There was a comedy special on in the past two weeks by one of the biggest voices & fear mongers about cancel culture in comedy and it sucked. It sucked because his routine was garbage not because people are scared to laugh at irreverent comedy out of fear of scorn. Great comedies like Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Airplane, Coming to America, Clerks, Life of Brian, Mall Rats, Dogma and the Hangover are able to withstand the test of time even if a joke or two may be problematic by today's standards because the spirit of the films were to be funny by taking the real and making it satirical absurdity. The movies that don't hold up often are because of repeated heavy handed racial stereotypes homophobia & sexism that becomes uncomfortable through repetition.

Such a great reaction to a great comedy had to upgrade just to see it so worth it especially with the Peaky Blinders which if u can believe it actually just keeps getting better without ever falling off !
