The mother Hugh was talking about seems to be Saera Targaryen. She was the estranged daughter of Old King Jaehaerys and sister to Aemon (Rhaenys’ father) and Baelon (Viserys’ and Daemon’s father). She was disowned by Jaehaerys because she was pretty sexually promiscuous and ended up working in/owning a brothel in Lys.

Kelschman

An interesting thing to note, the dragons Hugh and Ulf are now riding were once bonded to their grandparents, so once again, a direct family tie leads to a bond (Vermithor was ridden by King Jaehaerys and Silverwing was ridden by his wife Queen Alysanne). Hugh's mom and Ulf's dad were both kids of theirs.

Tae Kellz

Why do people think a dragon egg is fragile enough to be lightly stepped on and it will break 🤣🤣

Danny

He didn't stepped on the egg but he cracked the incubator. Ulf was sent by Rhaenyra to lure and ambush Aemond, if it worked they would've won the war right there taking out Aemond/Vhagar. Aemond seems familiar with ambushes tho he had one setup the last time. I notice the dirt on Rhaenyra's face could mean she's been busy training the new dragonriders so there was a time skip we didn't see where they setup that plan.

Kuzon

Just wanted to say that I don't think it was stupid of Ulf (the dragonseed who claimed Silverwing) to go to King's Landing, if anything I think Rhaenyra might have even sent him there to get Aemond's attention and draw him into a trap. He came right back to Dragonstone right after going to King's Landing. And Aemond turned around once he saw Silverwing flying back to Dragonstone and Vermithor Seasmoke and Syrax waiting to jump him lmao. That face Rhaenyra made at the end is her saying "yeah come try it Aemond". She wanted him to see that Vermithor, Silverwing and Seasmoke have new riders. He isn't as invincible as he thinks anymore. Things have changed.

Dani

Oh no, she definitely did tell him to go flex at Kings Landing loll. They even strapped Ulf in that riders seat. Dope scene

Kuzon

right? like Rhaenyra was flexing hard AF and showing her strength. so badass.

Kuzon

exactly Rhaenyra sent Ulf to King’s Landing on Silverwing on purpose. To draw Aemond out to kill him. And to show off her strength. She has new dragonriders now.

Tara L

Yeah, I don't know whether it's spoilers (if it is immediately remove my comment) to say that the guy didn't step on the egg? He only stepped on the outer warm coating, and his foot was next to the egg inside.

Tara L

Loved the reaction :D

Tech Go

A lot of reactors interpret Ulf going to kings landing wrong at first but in the end they realize what was actually going on. Ulf was told to go the kings landing so he could lure Aemond into an ambush why do you think Rhaenyra and the others were already there waiting lol

Valcor

I don't think Ulf broke an egg, instead he just broke the clutch that the eggs are contained within. We saw in Season 1 with Daemon that dragon eggs are laid inside a hard sticky substance that keeps them incubated and safe. Team Black now have 7 dragons including Daemon, Baela and Jace's dragons. With possible Rhaena also about to claim a dragon that would make 8.

Boaty Zooka

I think Adam did have some targaryen blood in him cause we saw one with thin blood try and fail. Seasnake also didn't know his mothers lineage .

Valcor

I assumed it was a trap pretty much right away it's funny how some people don't have that idea.

Valcor

It's not spoilers we saw in Season 1 Daemon breaking open the same substance holding the eggs.

JonSnow21

I mean yea but him turning back just makes him smart. There’s no way he can take on like 5 dragons at once , even with vhagar.

Tom the Dutchie

I wonder if now that Aemond has seen these dragonriders, he is going to pressure Helaena into training/riding her dragon Dreamfyre more as he might realize he needs them on his side. And I don't think that will go easy given her mental condition she is in.

JonSnow21

I feel like y’all are heavily underestimating Daemon and Caraxes , acting like he isn’t as powerful as he thinks. Daemon is the greatest dragon rider of all time and Caraxes is the most aggressive so they would absolutely demolish Ulf and Silverwing in a fight and I would even go further and say that he can face any dragon in the realm including Vermithor and Vhagar…Daemon isn’t vain for no reason, he knows how good of a duo that he and Caraxes are and it’s also kind of crazy that Aemond did what Hugh Hammer did at the age of ten too a larger and Older dragon…

Roy Koopa

I honestly don’t know what it is about this show. But I can barely get myself through an episode. I find it unbelievably boring. Like the characters are two dimensional, basically all the same, the dialogue is tonally flat, and the story is just sort plodding along. I can’t find myself invested in this show at all. I think this season was been significantly worse than the first. And I’m just going to say it: the acting is kind of bad.

midothegreat

Alicent getting protection from Vice Admiral Garp himself

SeanThePrawn

Completely disagree, I think the acting is superb and even the slower episodes are gripping.

Minerva Ravenclaw

The scene was Badass af but I think they somehow lost the element of surprise... If they actually draw him to a 1v1 fight and attack him with all the dragons they have, hiding the fact that they have multiple dragons now, they actually can take Vhagar down...

Lonna Neil

Love you guys, first time I watched the uncut. This season has been amazing. Can’t wait until the finale.❤️🔥

imperial

I know he didn't step on the egg, but why is that idea so laughable? When have they ever stated on this show that dragon eggs are made of some indestructible material? What's the point then of transporting them in cradles filled with soft cushion and pillows if they're so indestructible? Eggs also go through different stages of incubation where they are probably weaker in the earlier stages. They stepped on eggs in Jurassic Park, so if a dinosaur egg can be destroyed easily why not a dragon egg? Have you had personal experience with dragon eggs in real life? I've never come across one so forgive my ignorance 🤣

SuddenImpulse

"the acting is kind of bad." We are quite a few months past April at this point my friend.

Neville L

Alicent had all power and agency taken away. She has nothing to do, so she goes camping lol

Guilherme G.

There is a lot of information to take in in these shows, so idk if this pertains to you specifically, but I can see how someone would check out if they're unable to keep up with all the names and certain conversations. But for me, one of my favorite things about HOTD/GOT is the dialogue. Every conversation feels so layered.

Guilherme G.

I feel like it's not a HOTD/GOT finale without heartbreak, but i am reeeeeaaaly hoping that Spartan's prediction is the outcome!! 🙏🏼

Roy Koopa

No, I’m fine with complexity. I enjoy complexity. I was fine with the book. My problem with this show is just what I said - its lack of complexity. Two dimensional characters and dialogue that is tonally flat. You often see people who are critical of the show saying that all of the characters seem the same, and they do. Because the writers are doing a bad job distinguishing them in the writing.

Tom the Dutchie

Oh I had not seen it yet but I just checked it out, it looked great and I really wonder if she will! On one hand I want to see Dreamfyre in action but on the other I don't want her to do anything to risk her life, we can't lose her ❤️

Jacob Watson

The acting is bad? Lmao. Might be the worst troll attempt I’ve ever seen

Joel Quinn

I'm also not the biggest fan of this season. Something is lacking, an outstanding part like Viserys, definitely the pacing, which I do not like and as you said, the characters are not fleshed out that well. Its shallow and serves only the narrative, not a well-developed set-up. They send food to the poor people, and the greens do nothing; they send the handmaiden to collect the bastards but nothing happens. They even joke around in the taverns, but nobody reacts. No greens reacting, no guards wondering why suddenly all the white-haired people leave the town after everyone was forbidden to leave the city. No guards watching the shores, nothing. The writing is a joke, the acting is alright, but the overall set-up is just self-serving. This is more and closer to S6/7/8 of GoT because those seasons also started to cut corners. You criticize the characters that lack a profile; back then, they made well-developed characters stupid to serve the point. But you can also see how many people think you're a joke with your opinion; you can't account for taste. Still watching the show, I like Westeros and stories around it, but this is not exceptional television.

Joel Quinn

Because it becomes hard to tell if you have no set-up and jump from scene to scene. It might as well have been him jumping on his dragon for his first ride and all not going so well, given how the show handles its scenes. The end of the scene supports the other reasoning, but there is plenty of room to think otherwise.

Tax2er

One bad take after another. You're truly on a run.

Erin Black

Where did your Reactions to "HotD" Season 1:Episodes 1-3 go?

Erin Black

I am very excited for the Finale in 2 days, but I am not excited to watch 🐉s kill each other, if that is what's going to happen. When Aemond and Vhagar killed Lucerys and Arrax in the Season 1 Finale, when Vhagar killed Rhaenys and Meleyse in Seasin 2-Episode 4, when Meleyse and Sunfyre fought, and when Vhagar severely injured King Aegon and Sunfyre, I 😭, because the 🐉s didn't ask to be turned into giant War Machines. They just want to chill and be peaceful.
