We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.  Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. Never watched this movie before so excited to watch first time with you guys. Absolutely love your reactions i’m going out but when i come home this is the first thing im watching ❤️❤️

SuddenImpulse

Would be interested to hear what your thoughts on the movie for first time are (doing it in this way) if you care to share them. No obligation of course!

Sabina

i like the first 2 hours. the last hour kind of lost me. it was good. but just not my interest in the last hour. but our main actor - forgot his name right now - he did an amazing job. and it does an amazing job of truly showing the horror of an atomic bomb without showing it.

PatrickKello

what version are you guys watching. im having sync issues..

Kevin Bandy

Christopher Nolan writes and directs most, if not all, of his movies.

Farbod

Correct. The only film he didn’t have a hand in writing was Insomnia which was written by Hillary Seitz. Every other film he either wrote or co-wrote.

Netflix! shouldn't have sync issue that's weird. try the tips in the chernobyl uncut reaction description and let us know if it helps

Perfect night for a 3 hour movie that doesn't feel like 3 hours at all. We are in the middle of a heat wave here, and it is hot and humid with poor air quality today so nice to stay in the AC and watch the movie. I think this is now my favorite Christopher Nolan film. Cillian Murphy (pronounced Killian it is Celtic - Keltic) is such an expressive actor. He won an Academy Award for his role in this movie. Robert Downey Jr. won best supporting actor for his role as Strauss. I was thinking about some of the things I knew about the testing in Los Alamos of the bomb and how it was a bit too close to some residents (that is just one problem as well as failing to warn another small town about the testing) and some other facts they didn't mention in the movie, but then I realized the title is Oppenheimer and it is more about him than the bomb. It is such a balancing act to do what is right and in this case the lesser of two evils as far as the US was concerned at the time. I thought Emily Blount (Kitty - Oppenheimer's wife) did a great job. I saw her more as frustrated with him than with the kids since he didn't help out much. Calling one of them a brat was a bit unsettling though. I think this is so interesting how they weaved so much about Oppenheimer into an interesting story about developing the nuclear bomb. Cillian did such a great job of portraying all facets of him. Thanks for your reactions and it was nice to watch it with you guys.

Y'all have it on Netflix there in your country. Lucky. It's not even on Netflix here in the US😫

I enjoyed this movie and the fact Oppenheimer finally got the recognition he deserved. He was proven correct about the impact of dropping the bomb although he definitely was far too optimistic that it usher in an age of peace. I definitely understand the complexity of the morals & ethics that came with the decision to make then use the bomb. Ultimately the nuclear arms race was inevitable so someone was going to build & use the bomb. The strategy to drop Fat Man & Little Boy as a humanist is hard to admit it probably was the correct decision. As Oppenheimer predicted once the second bomb was dropped the fear of Nuclear war would ensure a third bomb dropping against a population would not be seen in this world. While the threat of nuclear war exists it has been nearly 79 years since the last atomic bomb was used. I am not sure that would have been the case if the Nazis won the race, or if Russia had. Once the science was realized mutually assured destruction was going to be the only deterrent the world could know. I think the greater US mistake of the WWII era was Opperation Paper Clip. Instead of holding war criminals to account for their actions the US government used many of them to advance US interests & expand its power. However as horrific as that decision & program was it also prevented the US from exposing the fact the Russians were doing the same thing. Those decisions lead to a three decade long Cold War & proliferation of the arms race. There is an outstanding documentary which I am not sure is still available to stream that HBO released in 2007 called White Light/Black Rain the Destruction of Hiroshima & Nagasaki. It shows the immediate aftermath and the impact of surviving the bomb had on future generations. It is an extremely heavy documentary but also something everyone should watch to fully understand the Atomic Bomb.

This is one of my favorites next to Interstellar. I'm a huge Nolan fan. My take on the movie is in line with what his wife Kitty articulated... he built the bomb because we had to. Someone was going to and we couldn't allow the nazi's to do it first or they would become a super power, however he seems to allow them to pull his life apart as some sort of penance for becoming the prometheus... the man that gave the world the power to destroy itself. It's almost as if he wanted to be the martyr to punish himself for this bad act. I will add that it seems that the whole idea that he changed his mind about the H-Bomb was only a problem because they interpreted that as an indication that he wanted our enemy, the Soviet union, to beat us to creating the next most powerful weapon. They tried to imply he was working for the soviets and was sympathetic to their cause and his turn agains the super was strategic, not a question of morality. Great reaction as always!

Farbod

I enjoyed reading this. One of the worst things about nuclear proliferation is that it has allowed bad actors like North Korea to stay in power and terrorize their people.

Connor W

I really enjoyed this movie and I knew you guys would like it. Considering you have enjoyed all of the other Nolan films you've reacted to on the channel. I think the most applicable quote from another famous film Jurassic park that can be used to describe Oppenheimer's ordeal. "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.” Such a moral dilemma but unfortunately he had to create it for them to see the gravity of it.

Leo

I know it's splitting hairs but Cillian is an Irish name, not 'Celtic'. No one in Ireland refers to 'Celtic' anything, our culture is definitely Irish.

Leo

saying Celts is like saying 'Native American' when talking about specifically the Iroquois or something, you're referring to a really broad term for people that lived across Western Europe in BC.

Leo

Nolan's signature is movies that mess with your perspective of time - if you really want to be confused, Memento and Tenet are also great! Glad you enjoyed this one so much, I heard a lot of people complain about pacing but I found the intensity to be constant, and I definitely didn't feel the 3hrs like I have with other movies. Also great that you guys were in the dark about a lot of the history, makes for a super reaction!

MO

This time I fixed the sync issue by speeding up your reaction to 1/0.959 = 1.0427528676. Just type "$("video").playbackRate=1.0427528676" in the google chrome developer tool. This worked perfect for me. Though Im wondering why I suddenly need to speed up the reaction to 1/0.959 instead of slowing it down to 0.959. By the way I watched the movie on WOW in Europe.

ChimneyJim

I’ll admit I didn’t think this would make a good reaction and I said as much. However I thoroughly enjoyed watching it again with you guys.

Petteri Ahlberg

To be 100% honest, i was dreading this reaction (only just a bit, mind) but now i feel foolish. Loved watching it again with you guys!

MO

we are nothing but blessed having Nolan and Zimmer in our time. Nothing but masteroieces is what they do

Lyn Hurst

I didn't have to adjust my speed at all as I watched it on Amazon Prime. I watched S&P on YouTube on my laptop.

Audra Muncy

Perception is thier reality!!! Someone told me that once and try to remember that when meeting people or reacting with them

Katie

i was really worried watching this film since i’m not the biggest fan of history and knew it was a very long movie but i actually really enjoyed watching this.. i can’t believe i ever doubted christopher nolan

Sam

Have you guys seen “The Imitation Game (2014)”? I think you guys would enjoy it.

Luke

Please do the "Back to the Future" trilogy 🙏
